Abstract

Artificial bone joint comprises >=2 parts such a shaft and socket, in which the socket is firmly fixed in the pelvic bone with bone cement. The socket consists of an inner shell of high m. pt. hard sintered metal oxide and an outer shell of polymer, the two shells only being joined at the edges. The prosthesis permits movement of the pelvic bone without wear on the joint.
