Abstract

The invention relates to a conveying device for bottle-handling machines, in particular labelling machines. To avoid collisions of bottles with the inlet of a separating worm which moves the articles apart to have a mutual spacing, a barrier is arranged directly in front of the inlet of the separating worm, which barrier is controlled as a function of the rotary position of the inlet of the separating worm and of the articles in such a way that the articles are only passed on to the separating worm when its inlet is in a position which rules out a collision of the apex of the first worm pitch with the bottle. The conveying device allows the conveying worm to be exchanged for bottles of different formats. The transmission ratio of the worm and a downstream inlet star is adapted by using a variable transmission ratio as a function of the pitch selected. Objects of different formats can thus be handled using one and the same machine.
