Abstract

The system, for detection within the transmission of a TV channel 1 of announcements and for recognition of these, bases its operation on a digital, compressed recording 2 of the televised transmission 1, analysis being by means of a technique for processing images 3 for the detection of images which may be announcement separators, being based for this purpose on the fact that the announcements appear visually separated from one another and from the rest of programming. Concomitant with the detection of separators is the detection of the first image of the next announcement, manual supervision 4 of the announcements detected being carried out on occasion. Next, visual characteristics of a set of images of the detected announcement, which are recognized and compared with others stored in a database 6, are extracted. As final result, the system detects the appearance of announcements together with their transmission time, recognizing the repetition of the announcements detected.
