Abstract

Device for protection and improvement of the installation of sensors and actuators in pieces made of compound materials. A device is proposed which allows the protection of sensor and actuator elements, such as optical fibres or piezoelectric elements, installed in parts manufactured from compound material of the organic-polymer matrix reinforced fibre type. Likewise, the method of manufacturing this type of part is facilitated. This device is aimed at achieving three fundamental objectives: ensuring the survival of the sensor/actuator elements during the process of manufacturing the compound- material parts, simplifying the manufacturing process itself, adapting it to the installation of the abovementioned sensor/actuator and protecting these sensor/actuator elements at their exit from the part. Fundamentally, the basic element of the device consists of two parts. One of them can be likened to a tube of small diameter and the other, with parallelepipedal geometry, encloses the former over a certain length. A set of orifices allows sealing and anchoring.
