Claims (8)

1. Method for operating a cooking appliance (1), wherein the cooking appliance has a cooking compartment (6), a cooking appliance controller in which a plurality of cooking programmes are stored and can be called up, a display and operator control panel (61) in the form of a touchscreen on which display and switching areas (43, 47) can be displayed and inputs into the appliance controller can be made by touching displayed switching areas (47),characterized in that the current cooking programme can be extended or shortened by a preset time period by virtue of tapping a switching area (47, 53) which is displayed during the last cooking step of the cooking programme.
2. Method according to Claim 1,characterized in that the preset time period is one minute.
3. Method according to Claim 1 or 2,characterized in that the time period is variable.
4. Method according to one of Claims 1 to 3,characterized in that the current cooking programme can be correspondingly extended or shortened by the preset time period several times by tapping several times.
5. Method according to Claim 4,characterized in that the display returns to zero when a preset variable number of tapping operations is exceeded, and preferably the number of tapping operations to be exceeded is 5.

Method according to one of Claims 1 to 5,characterized in that two switching areas (47, 53) are always displayed in the last cooking step, it being possible for the last cooking step to be selectively directly extended or shortened by a predetermined time period by tapping on the said switching areas.
7. Method according to Claim 5 or 6,characterized in that, when extending or shortening the corresponding cooking programme step, if extension or shortening greater than the maximum number of tapping operations is noticeably required, any desired time selection can be set by an input operation.

Cooking appliance (1) which has a cooking compartment (6), an electronic cooking appliance controller in which a plurality of cooking programmes are stored and can be called up, and has a display and operator control panel (61) in the form of a touchscreen on which display and switching areas (43, 47, 53) can be displayed and inputs into the appliance controller can be made by touching displayed switching areas (47, 53),characterized in that the cooking appliance (1) is designed to execute a method according to one of Claims 1 to 7.
