Abstract

A method for executing a lighting sequence to control a plurality of lights, the lighting sequence representing one or more lighting effects that contain at least one state for the plurality of lights, the method comprising acts of (A) transferring the lighting sequence from a first device on which the lighting sequence was created to at least one computer readable medium, the lighting sequence being transferred in a data format that represents a data stream capable of directly controlling the plurality of lights; (B) reading the lighting sequence stored on the computer readable medium to a second device; (C) coupling the second device to the plurality of lights; and (D) executing the lighting sequence on the second device upon reading the data stream from the computer readable medium by passing the data stream to the plurality of lights to control the plurality of lights.

Description

Claims (26)

  1. A method for executing a lighting sequence to control a plurality of lights, the lighting sequence representing one or more lighting effects that contain at least one state for the plurality of lights, the method comprising acts of:
    (A) transferring the lighting sequence from a first device on which the lighting sequence was created to at least one computer readable medium, the lighting sequence being transferred in a data format that represents a data stream capable of directly controlling the plurality of lights;
    (B) reading the lighting sequence stored on the computer readable medium to a second device;
    (C) coupling the second device to the plurality of lights; and
    (D) executing the lighting sequence on the second device upon reading the data stream from the computer readable medium by passing the data stream to the plurality of lights to control the plurality of lights.
  2. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one computer readable medium comprises a first computer readable medium, and wherein the act (A) includes an act of transferring the lighting sequence from the first device to the first computer readable medium via a second computer readable medium, so that the lighting sequence is transferred from the first device to the second computer readable medium and from the second computer readable medium to the first computer readable medium.
  3. The method of any of the foregoing claims, further including an act of, during execution of the lighting sequence in act (D), modifying the execution of the lighting sequence in response to an input received at the second device.
  4. The method of any of the foregoing claims, further including an act of, during execution of the lighting sequence in act (D), receiving a parameter for at least one effect in the lighting sequence from an input received at the second device.
  5. The method of any of the foregoing claims, further including an act of, during execution of the lighting sequence in act (D), changing a speed at which the lighting sequence is executed in response to an input received at the second device.
  6. The method of any of the foregoing claims, wherein the second device is video monitorless.
  7. The method of any of the foregoing claims, further including an act of, during execution of the lighting sequence in act (D), modifying the at least one effect in the lighting sequence in response to a timing device coupled to the second device.
  8. The method of any of the foregoing claims, further including an act of, during execution of the lighting sequence in act (D), modifying the at least one effect in the lighting sequence in response to a timing device disposed within the second device.
  9. The method of any of the foregoing claims, further including an act of, during execution of the lighting sequence in act (D), receiving a parameter for at least one effect in the lighting sequence, from a timing device coupled to the second device.
  10. The method of any of the foregoing claims, further including an act of, during execution of the lighting sequence in act (D), receiving a parameter for at least one effect in the lighting sequence, from a timing device disposed within the second device.
  11. The method as claimed in claim 5, wherein the input is received from a timing device coupled to the second device.
  12. The as claimed in claim 5, wherein the input is received from a timing device disposed within the second device.
  13. The method of any of the foregoing claims, wherein the second comprises a cue table that identifies inputs to the second device and modifies the execution of the lighting sequence in response to the identified inputs and, wherein the method further includes an act of, during execution of the lighting sequence in act (D), changing a speed at which the lighting sequence is executed in response to an output of the cue table.
  14. The method of any of the foregoing claims, wherein the second device comprises a cue table that identifies inputs to the second device and modifies the execution of the lighting sequence in response to the identified inputs, wherein the method further includes an act of, during execution of the lighting sequence in act (D), changing a parameter of at least one effect assigned, in the lighting sequence, to at least one of the plurality of lights to a new parameter in response to an output of the cue table.
  15. The method of any of the foregoing claims, wherein the second device comprises a cue table that identifies inputs to the second device and modifies the execution of the lighting sequence in response to the identified inputs, wherein the method further includes an act of, during execution of the lighting sequence in act (D), modifying an effect in response to an output of the cue table.
  16. A system for executing a lighting sequence to control a plurality of lights, the lighting sequence representing one or more lighting effects that contain at least one state for the plurality of lights, comprising
    a first device arranged to create the lighting sequence; the device further arranged to transfer the lighting sequence to at least one computer readable medium in a data format that represents a data stream capable of directly controlling the plurality of lights; and
    a second device coupled to the plurality of lights and arranged to read the lighting sequence stored on the computer readable medium, and execute the lighting sequence upon reading the data stream from the computer reading medium by passing the data stream to the plurality of lights to control the plurality of lights.
  17. The system of claim 16, further comprising a further computer readable medium, wherein the first device transfers the lighting sequence to the computer readable medium via the further computer readable medium.
  18. The system of claim 16 and 17, wherein the second device comprises an input arranged to receive an input signal.
  19. The system as claimed in claim 18, wherein the second device is arranged to modify the execution of the lighting sequence in response to the input signal.
