Ein anderes Verfahren ist TPEG/RTM, mit dem grundsätzlich Meldungen fürVerkehrsmanagement abgesetzt werden können. Dieses Verfahren ist jedoch nicht geeignet, umauf stark begrenzten Datenkanälen eingesetzt zu werden.Methods are known with which traffic information services can be broadcast. Die Erweiterungsmeldung muss die Georeferenz präzisieren, die in der Basismeldung nur alsTMC-Code angegeben wurde. Als geeignete Verfahren sollten dazu sogenannte "on-the-fly"-Verfahreneingesetzt werden, die eine Kodierung ohne speziell kodiertes Vorabwissen in der Zielkarte erfordern. Weiterhin kann die Erweiterungsmeldung alle weiteren Informationen derBasismeldung oder auch darüber hinaus präzisieren.
Die Erweiterungsmeldung sollte sich darüber hinaus auf die Basismeldung beziehen, um hiereine Eindeutigkeit herstellen zu können. Zusätzlich ist es vorteilhaft, wenn dieErweiterungsmeldung ein eindeutiges Identifikationsmerkmal wie beispielsweise eineIdentifikationsnummer umfasst.
Als weitere vorteilhafte Ausgestaltung sollte die Erweiterungsmeldung durch flexible Containererweiterbar sein.
Die Informationen über die quantitative Wirkung der Verkehrsstörung muss mindestens in derBasis- oder der Erweiterungsmeldung vorhanden sein. Der zeitliche Bezug (Startzeit, Endzeit)sollte in mindestens der Basis- oder der Erweiterungsmeldung gegeben sein.The basic message contains all information as specified by the ALERT-C standard for a specific event.
