Abstract

A shielded cable connector (2) comprises a terminalsection (4) and a cable section (6). The cable section (6)comprises support shells (26) mountable over shielding(18) of the cable, and clamping half-shells (28) that haveends (38) engageable in grooves (36) of the supportmembers. The clamping half-shells (28) are pivotabletogether to clamp a shielding braid (52) that is reverselyfolded over a cylindrical portion (33) of the supportmembers (26). A retention ring (30) is passed over theclamping half-shells (28) to securely lock them to theterminal section (4). Assembly of the shield clampingportions is thus enabled after the terminals are mountedin the connector for a more cost-effective assemblyprocedure.
