Claims (5)

  1. Process for the manufacture of the packet according to Claim 1, of the type consisting, starting from a strip (11) of a composite material, the part of which intended to constitute the inside of the packet is made of a heat-sealable material, in forming by means of various folding and heat-sealing operations a packet (16) having the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped and whose upper face is open, in filling the said packet (16) with a predetermined quantity of the food product, such as coffee, in carrying out a prefolding of the top part (7) of the packet, which top part is located above the level (6) of the food product, by moving the two corresponding large faces (4a) of the rectangular parallelepiped closer to each other whilst folding back inwards the two corresponding small faces (5a) of the rectangular parallelepiped, in performing a first heat treatment localised at the two ends of the prefolded top part, thereby heat sealing the ends of the large faces with the folded-back parts of the facing small faces, in removing, by means of a straight cut, the possible excess of material so as to keep only the top part necessary for the closure of the packet, in creating a vacuum in the packet, in performing a second heat treatment along a line (27) transverse to the prefolded top part and parallel to the upper edge (28) of the packet, thereby heat sealing the two facing large faces and closing the packet in a sealed manner, in turning down the top part (8) of the packet thus heat-sealed towards a large lateral face (4) of the rectangular parallelepiped and in applying an adhesive tape (29) both to the turned-down top part (8) and to the corresponding large lateral face (4), characterised in that, the heat-sealable material having a structure in the form of strippable layers, the first and second heat treatments are performed along a transverse line (27) which is at a distance of at least ten millimetres from the upper edge (28) of the packet.
  2. Apparatus for the implementation of the process according to Claim 4, of the type comprising, in succession, means (13) for folding and heat-sealing a strip (11) of a composite material, the part of which intended to constitute the inside of the packet is made of a heat-sealable material, which means are capable of forming a packet (16) having the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped whose upper face is open, means (17, 18, 19) for filling the said packet (16) with a predetermined quantity of food product, means (22) for turning down the two large faces (4a) of the top part of the packet towards each other, above the level (6) of the food product, and for simultaneously folding back, between the said large faces (4a), the two small faces (5a), first means (22) for applying, under pressure, a heat treatment on each of the two assemblies constituted by the two ends (8b) of the two large faces (4a) and the folded-back facing small faces (5a), means for removing, by a straight cut, the possible excess of the top part of the packet, means (23) for creating a vacuum in the packet, second means (24) for applying, under pressure, a heat treatment along a transverse line (27) on at least the two large facing faces (4a) which are not yet heat-sealed, means (26) for turning down the top part (8) of the packet towards a large lateral face (4) of the rectangular parallelepiped and means for applying an adhesive tape (29) both to the turned-down top part (8) and the corresponding lateral large face (4) of the packet, characterised in that the first heat-treatment means (22) are capable of performing the said heat treatment in two zones of each of the two assemblies, the first zone (9), located in the region of the transverse line (27), for application of the second heat-treatment means (24) and the second zone (10) located above the first zone (9) close to the upper edge (28) of the packet corresponding to the assembly in question after possible removal of the excess; and in that the apparatus comprises means for adjusting the height of the packet, which are associated with the heat-treatment means, so that the transverse line (27), for application of the second heat-treatment means, is at a distance at least equal to ten millimetres from the upper edge of the packet after possible removal of the excess; and means (26) for the bevelled cutting of the two upper ends of the top part after heating sealing the two large faces, the said upper ends corresponding to the two second zones for application of the first heat-treatment means.
