Abstract

The device for the obstruction of ventilation installations consists of a U-shaped frame 3, in which there are arranged, in the direction of flow and at a distance from one another, lamellae 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 made of a material which in the event of fire foams and hermetically seals the cross-section. Of these lamellae, every second lamella is mounted pivotably about its vertical centre axis so that the intermediate space between two firmly installed lamellae can be sealed. At temperatures up to approximately 65 DEG C, the obstruction device does not respond for at least an hour, whereas at a trigger temperature of approximately 70 DEG C, by means of a control device, a pivoting movement of the rotatably mounted lamellae begins, and at at least 100 DEG C the sealing material foams. In the range up to 100 DEG C, the obstruction device therefore operates reversibly. <IMAGE>
