Abstract

Description

多纤光缆的端头组件
本发明涉及多纤光缆的端头组件,具体地说,涉及一种端头组件,用以在装配多纤光缆过程中,避免多纤光缆以及固定于各光纤自由端之端头联接器受到损伤。
一般说来,光纤的联接,即把一光纤与另一光纤连在一起,需要一对端头联接装置,其一是固定于各光纤之一上的联接插座,而另一个则是固定于另一光纤上的联接插头。这种联接操作总是极难完成的,因为通常要在狭窄的光缆通道、光缆保护套管或接线小室的终端处进行这种操作。为此,在一般的光缆装配过程中,在光缆的端部露出之前,使端头联接器或连接器在被插入地下保护套管或类似装置之前与光纤的一端连在一起。但是,在这种情况下,其端部装有端头联接器之光纤存在受损伤的可能,为避免这种事情发生,提出一种端头组件。
授予Zimmer等人的美国专利US5,231,688公开了一种端头组件的实例,其中报告有一个带有固定光缆用的固定装置的分叉元件、一个有多个光纤通道的光学插头、一个接纳该光学插头的插孔件和一个支承件。
然而,由于上述现有技术的端头组件主要用于解决光纤分叉问题,其缺点在于,它不能容易地被插入光缆保护套管内,而且,即使将其插入了所述套管内,也不能在套管内移动它。实际上,所述分叉元件多少要散开些,以将其引入所述套管内,而且该元件缺乏与比如套管弯曲部分配合所需的挠性。
因此,本发明的主要目的在于提供一种被设计成便于引入光缆保护套管内的端头组件,有效地保护光纤和/或端头联接器免受外界损伤。
为实现本发明的上述目的及其它目的,提供一种用于带有多条光纤之光缆用的端头组件,所述各光缆之端部装有端头联接器,用以连接所述光纤,所述端头组件包括:外壳,它有小通孔、直径大于所述小通孔的大通孔,以及使光纤保持于其内,防止各光纤相互缠绕的保持装置;用于将外壳固定于所述光缆的固定装置;外套件,用于封闭各光纤和端头联接器,并与所述外壳可拆卸地结合在一起。
通过下述参照附图对优选实施例的描述,将使本发明的上述以及其它目的和优点变得愈为清晰,其中:
图1表示本发明光缆用端头组件第一实施例的透视图,其中光缆中没有受拉构件;
图2a表示图1所示本发明端头组件的纵剖面图;
图2b表示图1所示本发明端头组件沿2b-2b线所取的横截面图;
图3a和3b分别表示图1所示本发明端头组件中使用的散开型插头和狭缝型插头的透视图;

参照图1至3b,表示本发明端头组件的第一实施例。按照此第一实施例的端头组件,它适用于室内用的不带受拉构件或中央加强件之多纤光缆。
图1至3b中的不带受拉构件或中央加强件之多纤光缆包括外壳20、外套件30、插头40和螺母部件50。
如图1所示,外壳20包括一对通过铰链22彼此可转地相连的半圆形部件。外壳20具有自其中部凸出的凸缘25。如图2a所示,外壳20围绕凸缘25的前部呈圆锥形,外壳20的后部呈圆柱形。所述前部的端部具有小通孔21,多纤光缆通过此孔被引入。此外,该所述前部的端部还有小螺纹21a,形成于其周围。该小螺纹21a的直径最好沿从所述前部向后部的方向而增大。所述后部的端部具有大通孔23,其直径大于所述小通孔的直径。该后部在其整个长度上形成有大螺纹。在后部的内侧形成有一对盲孔27。贯通后部横向形成一对螺孔29,并将螺钉29a分别攻入所述螺孔29内,以便将插头40固定在外壳20中。所述一对盲孔27分别用于接纳插头40的凸起43。
外套件30包括螺纹部分32和挠性部分33。外套件30用于将多纤光缆10和端头联接器14与外界隔绝。恰如本领域所公知的那样,需要使端头联接器14将一条光纤11连到另一条,并由一个比如覆盖光纤11的塑料管(未示出)将其保持在光纤的端部。通过大螺纹23a与螺纹部分32之间的啮合,使外套件30与外壳20结合在一起。挠性部分33采用金属制成波纹管状,使得当端头组件穿过地下光缆保护套管被装配时,能够容易地与地下保护套管的弯曲外廓相配合。外套件30带有一手柄31,用于当使用者牵拉一根连接手柄31的线或者金属丝,以将多芯光缆装配于地下光缆保护套管内的时候。
插头40用于支承并将多纤光缆10的光纤11定位于外壳20内,以防止各光纤11互相绞缠。插头40的直径基本上等于所述后部的内径,并通过螺钉29a和凸起43被固定在外壳20内。插头40有多个通道41,光纤11分别通过它们而被定位。可根据光缆10的种类,使通道41以不同的方式被排列于插头40内。例如,当端头组件被用于散开型光缆时,可采用图3a所示的插头10。另外,图3b中所示的插头40适用于条带型光缆。
再看图2a,螺母部件50有一容纳孔53,它的直径基本上等于或小于多纤光缆10的包壳的直径,以便多纤光缆10可以安装于容纳孔53中,并被牢固地固定于其内。另外,螺母部件50具有与外壳20之小螺纹21a啮合的阴螺纹51a。
另一方面,参考标号51表示一衬套件,它有助于螺母部件50固紧多纤光缆10。当把外壳20组装到螺母部件50中时,衬套件51被外壳20的端部及螺母部件50压住。
以下参照图1至3b描述以如此方式构成之本发明端头组件第一实施例的组装操作。
首先,将多纤光缆10插入容纳孔53和衬套件51中,再剥开预定的长度,从而露出其中的光纤11。此后,将露出的光纤11分别插入插头40的通道41内,再将各端头联接器14分别装于光纤11的端部。此后,将插头40定位于外壳20的一个半圆形部件内。与此同时,将多纤光缆10定位于一个半圆形部件的小通孔21内。接着,使另一个半圆形部件转动,使外壳20成一圆形。这时,一个密封件26保证所述二半圆形部件的接触面之间的密封关系。接下来,驱使圆形外壳20进入螺母部件50中,与之结合在一起。由于小螺纹21a的直径沿着从前部向后部的方向增大,在驱动外壳20进入螺母部件50的过程中,二半圆形部件逐渐变得彼此紧密接触。在这之后,外套件30与外壳20啮合,包围住端头联接器14。最后,将一对螺钉29a分别驱入一对螺孔29中,使插头40固定在外壳20内。
以下参照图4至8描述本发明端头组件的第二实施例。按照此第二实施例的端头组件适于室外用多纤光缆100,所述光缆带有为承受光缆100之重量所需的受拉构件110。另外,在该第二实施例中,使笫一实施例中的插头40与外壳200形成一体,而不是作为分立部件存在。
图4至图5b中的带受拉构件110之多纤光缆100所用的端头组件主要被分成外壳200及套件300。
如图4和5a所示,外壳200具有呈圆锥形的前部和呈圆柱形的后部。外壳200还有自其中部凸出的凸缘250。所述前部的端部具有小通孔210,多纤光缆100通过此孔被引入。所述后部的端部具有大通孔230,其直径大于所述小通孔210的直径。该后部具有形成于后部整个长度的大螺纹230a。
在所述后部内侧整体形成的是插头400,它有多条通道220,光纤130通过这些通道被各自定位。这些通道220用于支承并将多纤光缆100的各光纤130定位于外壳200内,以防止各光纤130互相绞缠。可根据光缆100的种类,使通道220以不同的方式被排列于插头400内。例如,当端头组件被用于散开型光缆时,可采用图7a所示的插头400。另外,图7b中所示的插头400适用于条带型光缆。如图7a和7b所示,按照本发明,可采用以分开形式制作的插头400。
再看图5a,沿外壳200的纵向形成贯通插头400的夹持孔270,使其位于插头中央。如图5c所示,沿着插头400及外壳200的径向并贯通它们形成有三组螺孔对290,并与夹持孔270联通。所述螺孔对290彼此相对,并将螺钉290a分别驱入各螺孔290中,以便通过压住受拉构件110将该件固定在夹持孔270内。
作为固定受拉构件110的一种改型,可如图5b所示那样在受拉构件110与螺钉140之间采用一夹持器280。所述夹持器280由一对半圆形棒构成,每个半圆形棒都有许多齿280a。按照当通过压住受拉构件110而使其定位于所述二半圆形棒之间时只能使受拉构件110沿夹持器280轴线单向移动的方式形成这些齿280a。夹持器280的内径由齿280a确定,它沿着图5b中箭头的方向增大。在这种改型中,各螺钉压住夹持器280。
作为固定受拉构件110的另一种改型,可如图6a和6b所示那样与插头400一体形成一个从该插头400伸出的凸起夹持器275。所述凸起夹持器275有许多齿275a,按照只能使受拉构件110沿插头400轴单向移动的方式形成这些齿275a。如图6a所示,为便于受拉构件110插入凸起夹持器275中,给该凸起夹持器的前部形成一个纵向狭缝275b。在所述前部形成的此纵向狭缝275b使凸起夹持器275在该前部成为部分可分的,从而为受拉构件110提供一宽的开口。
外套件300包括螺纹部分320。外套件300用于封闭多纤光缆100和端头联接器14。借助大螺纹230a与螺纹部分320间的啮合,使外套件300与外壳200结合在一起。另外,外套件300有一手柄310。在该第二实施例中,尽管图中没有示出,但也可如第一实施例中所示那样,以波纹管形式制成外套件300。
如图8所示,可在本发明的端头组件中使用中间螺纹部件500。如果外壳200与外套件300之间存在尺寸差,即可使用中间螺纹部件500。中间螺纹部件500具有外部阳螺纹510,可与外套件300的螺纹部分320啮合,还有内部阴螺纹520,可与外壳200的螺纹230a啮合。中间螺纹部件500的使用,可使外套件30及300内的空间得以延伸。
虽然已参照各实施例画出并说明了本发明,但本领域技术人员应能理解,可以得到各种变换和改型,而不致脱离有如下述各权利要求所规定之本发明的精神和范围。
