FIG. 3 a shows base main frame member 101 , extendable base main frame member 101 b , front frame member 102 and front frame member 102 a , and rear main frame member 103 . The main frame part of the present invention is composed of mirrored structural frames connected by cross beams, each mirrored structural frame includes member 101 , member 101b , member 102 , member 102a and member 103 .
101。Figure 3a shows the base of the trolley 100, which is formed by frame members 101 and 101b and is substantially parallel to the ground. Figure 3a shows a frame member 101 formed as the front portion of the extendable base frame member, and a frame member 101b formed as the rear portion of the extendable base frame member. Member 101 and member 101b are designed to form an extendable base. This is achieved by moving part 101 and part 101b in parallel relative to each other. In some embodiments, this can be accomplished by sliding the two assemblies parallel to each other (eg, on rails). In other implementations, one component may be telescopic within another component. In still other embodiments, one assembly or the other may consist of sub-assemblies that allow the part to retract itself into itself. In particular, Figure 5a shows frame member 101 fitted inside extendable frame member 101b. In an alternative embodiment, the member 101b may fit inside the member 101; in another alternative embodiment, the member 101b may itself consist of a plurality of telescoping assemblies. In another embodiment, member 101 may have a track on which member 101b moves. In other embodiments, the member 101b may have a track along which the member 101 moves. In another embodiment, member 101 and member 101B slide along each other to extend and retract. The mechanism connecting members 101 and 101b may be screws, brackets, welds, pins, tracks, slots, slides, or any other suitable secure mechanism. Member 101 and member 101b may be made of metal, plastic, or any other similar suitable strong material. The bottom end of the frame member 103 , or a portion of the frame member 103 substantially near the bottom end, is connected to the extendable frame member 101 .
In this embodiment frame member 101 and frame member 103 are connected at a substantially acute angle relative to the front of the frame such that frame member 103 is substantially inclined towards the front of the trolley (see Figure 5a). The mechanism connecting frame member 101 and frame member 103 may be screws, brackets, welds, pins, or any other suitable secure mechanism. In an alternative embodiment, the lower end of member 103 may be attached to extendable member 101b. In a preferred version of this embodiment, member 103 is slidably attached to extendable member 101b such that movement of member 101b does not substantially change the angle at which member 103 is attached. Member 103 may be made of metal, plastic or any other similar strong material.
Figure 3a shows a frame member 102 wherein the bottom end of member 102, or a portion substantially near the bottom end of member 102, is connected to, or substantially near the front of, the base frame member 101 part. In this embodiment, member 101 and member 102 are connected at a substantially acute angle relative to the front of the frame such that frame member 102 is substantially inclined towards the rear of the trolley (see Figure 5a). In alternative embodiments, the angle at which frame member 101 and frame member 102 connect may be substantially sharper, blunter, or may form substantially a right angle relative to the front of the cart's frame, so long as it still forms a strong frame to support the cart potential load on . Additionally, member 102 may be made of metal, plastic, or any other similarly strong material.

In alternative embodiments, the connection points of the frame member connections may be at any optimal geometric location. The mechanism connecting frame member 102a to frame member 102 and frame member 103 may be screws, brackets, welds, pins, pivots, slides, or any other suitable secure mechanism. Additionally, member 102a may be made of metal, plastic, or any other similar strong material.
Figure 3a shows a wheel member 105 attached to or around the junction of frame member 101 and frame member 102, and near the end of member 101b. Figure 4 shows a cart 100 (shown in side elevation) in accordance with the teachings of the present invention, wherein the rear base member 101b is not used, and has alternative implementations of some members. Importantly, the cart 100 shown in FIG. 4 has folding capabilities (see FIGS. 10-11 ). Cart 100 folds via joint lock member 130, joint lock member 128a, and joint lock member 128b. Release of locking joint 130 allows member 103 to fold forward (see FIGS. 10-11 ). Release of joint member 128a allows member 102 and member 102c to fold down (see FIGS. 12-13 ). In alternative embodiments, this folding capability may not be present. Frame member 103 , seat member 104 , and wheel member 105 are functionally identical to those shown in FIGS. 1-2 , and seat member 104 is mounted to member 102 . Furthermore, the front frame base member 101 and the front frame base member 101b are functionally identical to those shown in Figures 3a to 3d. FIG. 4 shows a diagonal frame member 102 with its top connected to joint member 128b (see FIG. 6 ) and the bottom of member 102 or a portion substantially near the bottom of member 102 connected to joint member 128a. FIG. 4 also shows a diagonal frame member 102c, the top of which is connected to joint member 128a and the bottom of member 102c or a portion substantially near the bottom of member 102c is connected to member 101 . Joint member 128a allows frame member 102 and frame member 102c to move from an unfolded position (see FIG. 6 ) to a folded position (see FIGS. 10-11 ). Joint member 128a and joint member 128b may be made of plastic, metal, or any other suitable strong material. FIG. 4 introduces diagonally braced frame members 123 . The top of the diagonally braced frame member 123 is connected to the slider somewhere along the frame member 102 in such a way as to allow it to slide along the member 102; the bottom of the member 123 is connected at the rear end of the base frame member 101 or The base frame member 101 is substantially near the rear end. In alternative embodiments, the point at which member 123 is attached to member 102 and member 101 may be different, so long as member 123 is still able to provide structural support to the main frame of the cart and to be able to slide during folding. In another embodiment, the top of member 123 may be attached to member 102c instead of member 102 . The mechanism for attaching member 123 to member 102 (or 102c) and member 101 may be a slot, screw, clip, bracket, pin, slide, or any other similar suitable mechanism. Additionally, member 123 may be made of metal, plastic, or any other suitable strong material. FIG. 4 also shows a footrest member 104 a attached near or substantially near the front end of the frame member 101 . In alternative embodiments, member 104a may be placed at a different location on the frame of the cart, or may be connected to seat member 104 . Additionally, member 104a may be made of plastic, metal, or any other similar suitable material, and may also be wrapped with foam, rubber, fabric, or some other padding.
Figure 5 shows a cart 100 shown in a rear perspective view in accordance with the teachings of the present invention. FIG. 5 shows beam 115 and beam 128 ; FIG. 5 also shows extendable support member 125 . In this embodiment, member 125 is a three-sided U-shaped tube. In an alternative embodiment, members 125 may be parallel tubes connected between frame member 102 (via joint 128b ) and frame member 103 without a third tube beam. In this embodiment, the extendable support member 125 and the extendable base frame member 101b are the primary mechanism by which the rear cargo area is used (see FIG. 8 ). In the unused position, the top of the extendable rod member 125 or a portion substantially near the top of the extendable rod member 125 is connected to the joint member 128b; the bottom of the member 125 or a portion substantially near the bottom of the member 125 in this way is connected to the frame member 103 in such a way as to allow it to slide vertically along the member 103 and to pivot about the same point. By sliding the u-shaped base vertically along member 103, member 125 can be moved from a closed, substantially vertical position to an open, substantially horizontal position. As member 125 is lifted along member 103, it is urged to a substantially horizontal position via joint member 128b (see Figure 10). This creates a new distance between member 102 and member 103, which simultaneously causes base member 101b to move parallel to member 101 to extend the base of the frame (see Figures 6 and 7), which simultaneously stretches member 101b, And thus use the rear cargo area. In alternative embodiments, there may be a spring, pulley, motor, or some other mechanism to assist the user of the cart 100 in extending the members 125 and 101b. In alternative embodiments, member 125 may have additional extension capabilities beyond pivoting upward, such as telescopically extending while also pivoting into an extended position, or extending via a hinge. When member 125 is in the closed position, it locks into place. The mechanism for locking member 125 in place may be a pin, snap, strap, slot, clip, or any other similar suitable method. Additionally, members 125 can be locked into place at various intervals along the height of member 103 to provide variable expansion. The mechanism for locking member 125 in place may be a pin, snap, strap, slot, clip, or any other similar suitable method. Support member 125 may be made of metal, plastic, or any other suitable strong material.
FIG. 6 illustrates a cart 100 shown in side elevation with member 125 and member 101b in the process of being extended to form a rear cargo area in accordance with the teachings of the present invention. As already discussed above, in some embodiments the member 125 can be locked in an intermediate position along the height of the member 103, thus enabling variable extension of the base. In another embodiment, once the extendable base has been selected to be extended, the overall movement of member 125 may be restricted to an intermediate position wherein member 125 acts as a side frame member.
FIG. 7 shows a cart 100 shown in a rear perspective view with member 125 and member 101b extended to form a rear cargo area in accordance with the teachings of the present invention.

The particular exemplary embodiment also provides a rotatable, front member 102C extending from a bottom frame member 101 which is slidably coupled to a support member 102D and which is also rotatable from the bottom frame member 101 pivots to provide support while still allowing the front member to be selectively folded or unfolded. Additional specific exemplary embodiments also provide that member 102C may have an impact system or a damping system.
FIG. 13 shows an alternative embodiment of the cart 100 . A particular exemplary embodiment provides a rear cargo area with a foldable child seat 210 that is selectively detachable from the rear cargo area. For embodiments where a floor platform 101C is provided, the platform 101C provides a floor upon which a child can climb to access a chair or stand on it, as the case may be. For safety and other considerations, in the particular exemplary embodiment of the cart, the platform 101C is tailored to extend less than the full length of the member 101B.
FIG. 14 shows an alternative embodiment of the basket 127 . Another specific alternative embodiment provides a selectively collapsible basket 400 that is selectively mountable to the handle 110, the front frame member 102, the rear frame member 103, the support member 125, or the rear cargo area platform 101C . The particular exemplary embodiment of the basket 400 has one or more resilient members 410A, 410B mounted to 430A and 430B respectively, and the one or more resilient members 410A, 410B are held in place by restraints 420A and 420B , when the basket is folded, the elastic members 410A, 410B combine to snap the basket 400 into a more compact position. Base plate 430A and base plate 430B pivot about hinge 440 . The side panels 450A, 450B include the upper side of the basket 400 . Members 460A, 460B provide possible surfaces for mounting the basket 400 to the cart 100 frame members.
FIG. 15A shows a specific exemplary embodiment of rear handle lock 130 of cart 100 . For example, the lock 130 provides a mechanism that includes the rear frame member 103 (tube), pivot, locking pin, shuttle, locking plate, spring, spring stop, locking actuator, and cable. The rear frame member 103 has slots cut to allow limited travel of the pin parallel to the handle and up and down the center plate of the rear frame member 103 . For example, the pivot is a metal pin that facilitates rotational movement of the rear frame member relative to the locking plate. The locking pin provides a locking lever for limiting rotation of the rear frame member relative to the locking plate. For example, the shuttle could be a plastic part that slides up and down inside the handle tube and couples the pin so the shuttle and pin slide up and down at the same time. The shuttle is continuously pushed up (down) by a spring that pushes the shuttle and pin back into the locked position. The shuttle has a cable attached thereto, with a lock actuator on or near the handle pulling the cable and thus moving the shuttle and pin into the unlocked state. The unlocked state is the state in which the pin is now inside the circular track of the locking plate and the rear frame member 103 can now be freely rotated to the non-use state (folded state). Locking plates may be mounted to the lower frame member 101B and may be located on each side of the rear frame member 103 . The locking plate may employ rail or step-slide translation and a locking receptacle for the pin to travel into. When the handle is rotated to an appropriate angle to align with the locking receptacle, the pin may be spring loaded to lock into the locking receptacle. The locking receptacle may be designed for a stowed (folded) state and an upright (unfolded) state.
