The present invention relates to a secondary package comprising a plurality of primary packages of disposable absorbent articles. More particularly, the present invention relates to secondary packaging capable of being suspended from a support member and containing a plurality of primary packagings of disposable absorbent articles.
Background of the invention
In many parts of the world, consumers purchase their consumer goods in retail stores with smaller retail spaces. These smaller retail stores are also sometimes referred to as "high frequency stores". In these stores, consumers are usually required to stand in front of the checkout counter to select the consumer products they need from a distance, without actually touching these products. To facilitate this style of shopping, many consumer products must be packaged in a sizeable size so that consumers can visually identify them. Ironically, the need for sizable product sizes for the sake of visual identity creates conflict by taking up too much retail space in these already narrow, high-frequency stores. To make matters worse, consumer goods are often shipped to retailers in cardboard boxes that are then deconstructed and discarded. Therefore, these cartons often create additional temporary storage problems. Finally, the actual on-shelf storage space in HF stores is significantly limited. To compensate for the limited amount of shelf storage space, some prior art attempts have attempted to hang these consumer products on outwardly extending pegs (these pegs are very similar to display pegs popular in the United States). In one known embodiment, a hole is made in the packaging of the consumer product and a peg is inserted for hanging. The hole-pin configuration is structurally feasible as long as the consumer product is not too heavy. However, some consumer products are actually heavy, such as disposable absorbent articles. Thus, said previous attempts to hang disposable absorbent articles have been limited to hanging individual primary packages no larger than the secondary package. While hanging individual primary packages of disposable absorbent articles can eliminate the need for actual storage racks, storage extending outward from a peg-wall display often creates an overly large obstruction or even structural failure within the store. Furthermore, the creation of holes in the plane of the main surfaces of the primary packaging material generally results in a lower load capacity.
Accordingly, there is a need for a secondary packaging configuration for efficiently and visually storing multiple primary packages of disposable absorbent articles. In addition, there is a need for a secondary packaging configuration for efficiently and visually storing multiple primary packages of disposable absorbent articles that enables better use of existing packaging materials, improves access to products from a distance identification, improved suspension structural integrity, and improved overall distribution of individual primary packages to consumers.

The citation of any document is not to be construed as an admission that it is available as prior art to the present invention. While particular embodiments of the present invention have been illustrated and described, it would be obvious to those skilled in the art that various other changes and modifications can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. It is therefore intended to cover in the appended claims all such changes and modifications that are within the scope of this invention.
For example, although the secondary packaging embodiments disclosed herein include four primary packages for packaging of disposable absorbent articles, the secondary packaging may be adapted to accommodate any number of multiple primary packages. For example, packages of twelve to eighteen can be utilized, as these quantities are typically packaged in current carton boxes shipped to retailers. In addition, those skilled in the art will understand that as the number of packages increases, the overall weight will increase accordingly. Likewise, a secondary package for a primary package of twelve medium-sized disposable absorbent articles may weigh approximately 1.2 kg; while a secondary package for a primary package of twelve large-sized disposable absorbent articles may weigh approximately 1.38 kg, twelve The secondary package of an oversized disposable absorbent article primary package may weigh about 1.59 kg. For each different weight, a judicious choice of film packaging is required, eg for strength and thickness.
90%。For example, while at least three different embodiments are described herein, those skilled in the art will appreciate that other configurations (which maintain the minimum width "w" (see FIG. 1 ) required to provide the desired Multiple primary package weights of sexual absorbent articles) are also possible. In some examples, the width "w" should be at least 2.54 cm. In some examples, the width dimension of the opening is preferably greater than 10%, more preferably greater than 50%, and most preferably greater than 90% of the product width dimension.
