The invention relates to a color television adapter for the galvanically separated transmission of signals between a television receiver and an audio-video source, since the commercially available television receivers are not equipped with a mains transformer. In addition to the normal effort, the previous technology also required an isolating transformer for galvanic isolation of the television receiver from an audio-video source. This isolating transformer must be dimensioned for a large power and is usually difficult to place. Likewise, a transformer of such power can lead to color errors in the television receiver if it is improperly placed. The invention is intended to make it possible to dispense with the isolation transformer. According to the invention, this is achieved in that the transmission takes place optoelectrically. The signal is modulated onto a light beam, which is then demodulated. Infrared diodes can be used for modulation and fast photodiodes or phototransistors for demodulation. Such devices are known as optocouplers. In the following, exemplary embodiments of the invention are briefly described with reference to the accompanying drawings. It shows:Fig. 1 The block diagram of such an adapter. The signal coming from the television set 1 is fed to the light transmitter 2 for modulation; the light is then demodulated in the receiver 3 and the normal television signal is thus available again for recording. The light transmitter 2 is fed separately by the power pack 10 and the receiver 3 by the power pack 9. Fig. 2 The output signal of an audio-video source reaches the light transmitter 7 via the input 8, is modulated there, then demodulated in the receiver 6 and reaches the television receiver as the same signal at the output 5. Here, the light receiver 6 is also fed by the power pack 11 and the light transmitter 7 by the power pack 12. By separating a television set and an audio-video source in this way, the aforementioned isolating transformer can be saved.
