Abstract

A curve sawing device includes a base; an articulated gangsaw carriage mounted to the base; a chipping head mounted to the gangsaw carriage. An active gangsaw downstream of and cooperating with the chipping head is mounted to the gangsaw carriage. The chipping head is translatable in a first direction which crosses a linear workpiece feed path wherealong the workpiece is linearly fed so as to first pass the chipping head and subsequently pass through the gangsaw. The chipping head is positioned linearly in the first direction to thereby translate the chipping head relative to the workpiece feed path. The gangsaw carriage is positioned linearly in the first direction and simultaneously rotatably about an axis orthogonal to the feed path to thereby translate and skew the gangsaw carriage relative to the workpiece feed path.
