ABSTRACT

The function of this buckle used in concert with hook and loop material (ie VELCRO) is to provide an economical quick connect, quick re-adjust and quick release feature when fastening two items to each other particularly when a cinching (leveraged pressure ) feature is required. This buckle avoids threading the end of the strap through an opening which is typical of many types of conventional box rings when the cinching feature is required for more strength. This buckle used with hook and loop material can also be used to replace the existing plastic, two part, bulky and expensive quick connect strap connector.

Claims (7)

1. In combination with hook and loop material this buckle(connector) provides for quick connect operation and in many cases a one hand operation when fastening two items using hook and loop straps

2. The design of the buckle pervents strap from backing out of the quick connect closed end. To disconnect the strap must be pulled out of the enclosed area the same way it would have to be if a box type connector was used.

3. The quick connect connector feature is achieved and maintains a compact profile.

4. The buckle can be easily attached directly to one of the items to be fastened ( straps / other ) by sewing or riveting.

5. The construction material and the design of the buckle (no moving parts) provides for a very long and reliable life with little or no opportunity for failure.

6. The one hand operation will lend itself for use in areas of restricted space or the physically or mentally handicapped.

7. Extended arms on the buckle pervent sewn strap from compressing up one of the fixed end if off-center pressure is applied from the quick connect end as would happen with a typical box type buckle. ( See sketch 3 )
