IWD ‘25: Let’s #AccelerateAction! Driving Change for Women in Tech

Working in tech, where advancements - especially in AI - are accelerating at an unprecedented pace, it’s very easy to forget that everything else isn’t always keeping up.
This year’s theme for International Women’s Day isAccelerate Action. I had a quick Google to see why that was, and was presented with the sobering fact that (according to data from the World Economic Forum):
💡At the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158, which is roughly five generations from now, to reach full gender parity.💡
Reflecting on my own career as a woman in tech, I’d love to say it’s been a smooth journey - but in reality, it’s been a bit of abumpy ride, full of twists, turns, and the occasional roadblock.
What has made the biggest difference?Advocates. People - of any gender - who are willing to stand up, take action, and support, elevate, and (loudly) celebrate the achievements of the women around them.
💜 The incredible manager who fought for my pay rises and promotions, ensuring my contributions were recognised.
💜 The mentors who encouraged me to own my achievements, nominated me for industry awards, and provided practical career advice.
💜 The colleagues who shared their knowledge gave me the confidence and skills to solve problems more effectively myself.
These people helped me lay the foundations toaccelerate my career, and I’m incredibly proud to now work for an organisation that actively supports me in paying it forward.

AtParallax, I’ve been empowered to launch initiatives that foster inclusion and career growth, including:
✅Hosting two Women in Tech AI events at our offices
✅Attending industry events focused on supporting women in technology
✅Bringing in an expert public speaking trainer to support our female staff
✅Upskilling in emerging technologies to stay ahead in the field
Through morementorship, allyship, and a willingness to open up a seat at the table, we can build momentum topropel more women forward—breaking barriers, driving innovation, and shaping a more inclusive future. 🚀
