Lorsqu'il s'agit de déterminer l'emplacement géographique de la Phénicie, sa situation politique,... moreLorsqu'il s'agit de déterminer l'emplacement géographique de la Phénicie, sa situation politique, économique et sociale, nous nous heurtons à un obstacle majeur qui consiste en l'absence de données archéologiques provenant de la côte levantine et datant de l'époque archaïque. C'est un thème à la fois polémique et banal pour les études phéniciennes. Cela étant, des fouilles récentes ravivent l'espoir que la situation va changer concernant notre connaissance des Phéniciens à l'époque archaïque. Pour l'instant, nous sommes contraints de concentrer nos recherches auprès des pays que les Phéniciens ont visités, dans le but de nous en forger le portrait. Une fois que nous aurons établi une image plus précise de ce peuple, nous serons en mesure de décoder le caractère de leur présence, puis d'en évaluer la portée dans les pays visités mais aussi dans leur pays d'origine.

nature of its populace, exhibits a propensity for absorbing cultural traits from neighboring civilizations. Among these cultural elements, the presence of temple boys figurines emerges prominently towards the end of the classical period. This study aims to delve into the presence, function, and significance of these figurines within the Cypriot milieu, contextualized by the prevalent temple-boy representations found throughout the island. By conducting comparative analysis, an endeavor will be undertaken to discern whether the roles attributed to these specific statues within the Cypriot context mirror those observed beyond the
island's borders, or if unique attributes exist that warrant explanation. Lastly, special attention will be devoted to exploring the nexus between temple-boy figurines and political leadership.

La présence phénicienne à Idalion est une réalité depuis le viie, date à laquelle remonte la première inscription phénicienne trouvée dans la ville. Cette présence peut être caractérisée de limitée au cours de la période archaïque. A partir du moment où l’île s’est retrouvée sous le pouvoir des Perses, le statut politique des royaumes chypriotes a changé. L’un des changements survenus a été la soumission de la ville d’Idalion à Kition. Tout au long de cette phase d’assujettissement, la ville d’Idalion, le premier royaume à figurer sur la stèle d’Assarhaddon et à disposer d’un système politique et économique très bien organisé, à l’époque archaïque et classique, est passée sous le contrôle des Phéniciens. Les fouilles tendent à prouver que la ville a très probablement abrité le premier palais phénicien à Chypre. Les inscriptions, elles, semblent se référer aux archives économiques de ce palais, bien qu’elles demeurent indéchiffrées. Cet article se focalise sur la seule inscription publiée par le Professeur Sznycer. Il s’agit d’un nouvel effort d’analyse et d’interprétation qui s’inscrit dans un contexte historique susceptible de fournir des informations autour du statut politique et économique de la ville d’Idalion, durant la période dont date l’inscription.

Traduction
The Phoenician presence in Idalion is a reality since the 7th century, period at which the first Phoenician inscription of the city dates from. This presence can be considered as minor during the archaic period. From the moment that the island fell under the Persian rule, the political statute of the Cypriote kingdoms changed. One of the changes that occur was the submission of Idalion to Kition. While subjugated to the Assyrians, Idalion, the first city-state to appear on Esarhaddon’s stele and to have a very well organized political and economical system, passed under the control of the Phoenicians. The archeological excavations seem to prove that the city most likely hosted the first Phoenician palace in Cyprus. As for the inscriptions, they seem to mention the economic archives of this palace, although they remain undeciphered till today. The present article focuses on the only inscription published by Professor Sznycer. It is an attempt to reexamine and interpret it within a historical framework likely to provide information about the political and economical statute of Idalion at the time of the inscription.
