Opera Australia has canceled performances at the Sydney Opera House due to coronavirus outbreaks.
The company announced that “at the direction of the government, we’ve cancelled performances of ‘Carmen,’ ‘Attila,’ and Great Opera Hits at the Sydney Opera House from 16–28 March 2020.”
The company stated that ticket holders will receive an email with further details about how to refund or exchange tickets.
The company also noted that there will be an update about Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour for performances of “La Traviata.”
Opera Australia is the latest company to cancel performances due to the outbreak. The majority of European and North American opera houses and concert halls have already canceled performances for the foreseeable future.
The country currently has 300 confirmed cases of COVID-19, as well as five deaths.
