FAQ

What can an open collective do? An open collective can collect one time and recurring donations, grants and sponsorships. Anyone in the community can file expenses for reimbursement. After approval by the administrators of the collective, the full amount is reimbursed.Learn More.
Can my collective receivefinancing from public institutionsor grants? Yes. All collectives hosted under OC Europe can receive subsidies after signing a cooperation agreement with us.Learn more
How much does it cost?
- 8% + Stripe/PayPal transaction fee for online contributions.
- 10% fee for bank transfers/wire payments.
- 10% fee for tax deductible donations and grants

Are donations tax-deductible?

Donations from US citizens are tax-deductible. For European citizens, it depends on the country they reside in. Please get in touch to find out if a donation could be eligible.

Regarding the US, OC Europe has been certified as equivalent to Public Charity by NGOsource. U.S. funders, including private foundations, can treat a non-U.S. organization as equivalent to a U.S. public charity if the non-U.S. organization goes through the equivalency determination process.

We also have a Fund in the US that allows US citizens to make tax-deductible donations to your collective.

Terms

By applying to have your project fiscally hosted by the Open Collective Europe Association, you agree tothese terms.

Some important points:

Your project's mission must fit with the Association's mission overall.
You can't use your Collective's money for any other purpose, or for private profit.
Projects under our umbrella are not allowed to engage in political or religious activity.
You retain ownership of all your project's intellectual property and money.
We will hold and manage funds on behalf of your project.
