Troy Reeder Commits to Penn State

Penn State has received its third commit for 2014 and the first on the defensive side of the ball as linebacker Troy Reeder from Wilmington, Delaware gave a verbal pledge to the Nittany Lions today in news first reported by Ryan Snyder of Blue-White Illustrated.

Listed at 6-3 232 lbs, Reeder is a versatile and multi-sport athlete who originally was committed to attend North Carolina on a lacrosse scholarship. Reeder is a 3-star prospect according to Scout and 247 Sports with offers from Miami, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Boston College, Rutgers, and Delaware. While he is not yet rated onRivals, his page indicates that he has a 4.0 GPA at Salesianum School, a catholic school in Wilmington.

Reeder joins running back Mark Allen and athleteNick Scott as the three players currently in the fold for next year’s signing class.

The Nittany Lions have had some success with players from the state of Delaware recently. James Terry was a rotational player along the defensive line this past season recording a sack and 13 tackles. More notably, 2011 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Devon Still also played high school football in Delaware.
