Onge (Öñge)

Onge is a member of the Ongan language family spoken on Little Andaman Island, a part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a Union territory of India. In 2006 there were 94 speakers of Onge. The language is also known as Önge, Ong, Ongee, Eng, Ung or Öñge.

Until the mid-19th century, Onge was spoken throught Little Andaman Island, and on other nearby islands. Since then, the number of speakers has declined, and they are now all found in a small settlement in the northeast of Little Andaman.
