The NHL has conducted an initial survey of Michie Stadium as the league considers West Point as a site for a future outdoor game, perhaps the 2018 Winter Classic, The Post has learned.

The Rangers would all but certainly be involved in any outdoor game at the United States Military Academy but would have to be the visiting team, as they were for games at Yankee Stadium against the Devils and Islanders in January 2014.

The Garden’s agreement with the city regarding its tax exempt status precludes the Rangers from playing a home game outside of Madison Square Garden.

The Rangers played in the 2012 Winter Classic, defeating the Flyers 3-2 at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. The 2017 extravaganza is set for Jan. 2 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis between the Blues and Blackhawks.

The NHL’s interest in West Point as a potential venue for an outdoor game was first reported by Hockey Night in Canada’s Elliotte Friedman.
