Splatoon
Splatoon is a series of third-person shooter video games developed byNintendo that has crossover content in theAnimal Crossing series. TheSplatoon series was produced byHisashi Nogami, longtime director and producer of theAnimal Crossing series. Items based onSplatoon have appeared in every game sinceAnimal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo, and villagers based onSplatoon characters have appeared inWelcome amiibo andAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.
Villagers[edit]
The following three villagers are based on theSplatoon series:
Cece – Apeppysquirrel, based onCallie inWelcome amiibo andShiver inNew Horizons. She can be summoned inWelcome amiibo if the Callieamiibo figure is scanned. She is Viché's younger sister.
Viché – Anormal squirrel, based onMarie inWelcome amiibo andFrye inNew Horizons. She can be summoned if the Marie amiibo figure is scanned. She is Cece's older sister.
Inkwell – Ajockoctopus based on anInkling. He can be summoned inWelcome amiibo if the Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, or Inkling Squid amiibo figures are scanned.

InWelcome amiibo[edit]
The threeSplatoon villagers appear inAnimal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo. If their corresponding amiibo figures are scanned, they can be invited to thecampground or asked to move in. TheirRVs contain items based on the series.
InNew Horizons[edit]
While noSplatoon crossover content initially appeared inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, two of the three possiblecatch quotes for theSquid reference the series:
- "I caught a squid! It's off the hook!"
- "I caught a squid! I had an inkling I might!"
The former is a reference toOff the Hook, the pop music band fromSplatoon 2, while the latter references theInkling species. Additionally,Blathers's description of theEusthenopteron fossil references theSplatoon series:"Imagine if we'd not left the oceans... How might fashion and music be different in an aquatic world? How would we resolve differences? Perhaps some sort of ink-squirting contest of champions?"
The3.0 Free Update introduced variousSplatoon-themed items alongside the return of Cece and Viché, now redesigned to resembleShiver andFrye, respectively, fromSplatoon 3.
InHappy Home Designer[edit]
While noSplatoon crossover content appears inAnimal Crossing: Happy Home Designer,Octavian's house request greatly references many elements from the firstSplatoon game.
InPocket Camp[edit]
InAnimal Crossing: Pocket Camp, aSplatoon 2 crossover event started on September 13, 2018 and lasted several weeks.Inkling's Splatted Cookie was available from September 13, 2018 to October 11, 2018, giving items from theSplatoon 2 (Fortune Cookie) Set. From September 13, 2018 to September 25, 2018, players could participate in the Blitz Clam Scavenger Hunt event, collecting Blitz Clam (a nod toClam Blitz) in order to obtain items from theSplatoon 2 (Blitz Clam) Set. From September 19 to September 26, 2018,Chip hostedFishing Tourney #6, where players could catchPink Squids, based on Inklings, andPurple Octopuses, based on Octolings, and earn items from theSplatoon 2 (Fishing Tourney) Set.
