Saharah is a brownish-yellow camel with closed eyes, thick and long eyelashes, and brown hair. Her belly, hands, and feet are white. The insides of her ears and mouth are pink. She wears a blue waistcoat with golden decorations, and a white backpack which stores wallpaper, flooring, and rugs.
Saharah is calm and soft, even when selling her favorite interior items: wallpaper, flooring, and rugs. She is characterized as a "foreigner" who may use strange wording and malapropisms; this aspect is downplayed in the international versions ofAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, which instead have her speak in an archaic manner reminiscent of translations of ancient texts.
In Japanese and Korean entries in theAnimal Crossing series, Saharah is male, while in all other versions, she is female. However, her appearance, including her voice, is identical in all versions. Saharah shares this attribute withBlanca andGracie. While Blanca and Gracie's gender changes were intentional, as revealed by the localizers updating Blanca and Gracie's from "male" to "female" in the Game Boy AdvanceMatchmakerse-Reader minigame, the developers overlooked Saharah, as they updated here-Reader card appropriately to "female" but failed to update her minigame data value to "female."
This oversight when localizingDoubutsu no Mori+ intoAnimal Crossing is due to the ambiguity ofspecial characters' genders, because unlikevillagers, who have pink and blue name bubbles when speaking, all special NPCs have ambiguous green bubbles. Due to Saharah's long eyelashes (a trait all camels have) and the Japanese name ローラン (Rōran), which was interpreted as "Lauren," they assumed he was female and did not realize the mistake until staff in Japan questioned why Saharah's western e-Reader card has a female gender indicator.[1]
In everyfirst-generationAnimal Crossing game, Saharah can appear as avisitor every two to seven days. In the days leading up to her arrival, Copper tells the player that the police station approved an "Application for Permission to Operate as a Door-to-Door Marketer" from Saharah for a specific date. When Saharah is in town, Copper tells the player which acre she is currently in.
Saharah walks around in a random acre and sells one of 18 (19 inDoubutsu no Mori e+) exclusivecarpet items in exchange for 3,000 Bells and another carpet item. The player can continue to purchase carpets from Saharah indefinitely, but the price doubles each time, up to a maximum of 48,000 Bells.
In all the Japanese games andDòngwù Sēnlín, Saharah is male. InAnimal Crossing, she is female but still has a male voice.
InAnimal Crossing: Wild World, Saharah gives rare wallpaper, taking over fromWendell. Instead of trade-ins, she asks the player to deliver carpet and wallpaper to special characters such asBlathers, theAble Sisters, Tom Nook,Pelly, andPhyllis, similar to the way that the player works for Tom Nook earlier in the game. In return, she will give the player a choice of either rare carpet or wallpaper.
She plays a part in the trading sequence to obtain thegolden axe. After the player gets to know Saharah, she will talk about how she "longs for aturban." When given a turban, she will give the player either ared vase or amassage chair, the latter of which can be traded toTortimer to further the trading sequence.
InAnimal Crossing: City Folk, Saharah appears on random weekdays from 6 AM to 12 AM. When spoken to, she asks the player to bring her three of either theold wallpaper orold flooring, which can be obtained by speaking to villagers. In return, she gives the player one of her exclusive wallpapers or carpets, respectively. She does not accept any other wallpaper or carpet.
InAnimal Crossing: New Leaf, Saharah sells the player a new wallpaper and carpet for 3,000 Bells. When the player meets her, she asks them to lead her to their house. She then leads the player out of the house temporarily while redecorating the first floor room with a new carpet and wallpaper. Finally, she emerges and gives the player the old carpet and wallpaper. She can install typical walls and carpets as well as rare Saharah originals. She owns anRV in thecampground and sells 9 items for 3MEOW Coupons each. If she is in good terms with the player, she reveals that she has a crush on Tom Nook.
If the player is still living in a tent, they cannot get new wallpaper or flooring from Saharah. This is because wallpaper and flooring cannot be changed in a tent.
InNew Horizons, Saharah can be seen wandering around the player's island weekly any day except weekends. When talked to, she offers "mysterious" wallpaper and flooring that are exclusive to her, which can be bought for 3,000 Bells each. Additionally, she now offers different sizes of mystery rugs: small for 1,000 Bells, medium for 1,500 Bells, and large for 2,000 Bells. Along with each rug purchase, the player earns "exchange tickets," which appear in the player's inventory as "Saharah Tickets." Once five tickets have been collected, they can be exchanged for a free mysterious floor or wallpaper that is missing from the player's catalog, or a random mysterious floor or wallpaper if they have them all in catalog. The amount of tickets earned depends on the size of the carpet (1 for small, 2 for medium, and 3 for large).
With the release of the2.0 update, Saharah now has a shop open at the plaza onHarv's Island. However, she will continue to visit the player's island about every two weeks. Items sold at her Co-op are sold for 1.2x their standard price.
When Saharah visits the player's island, she will remain until 5 a.m. the following morning.

Prior to its removal in version 2.0, when the player scans Saharah's amiibo card and tries to invite her, she will say:

InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, Saharah has a chance of appearing as a background character in the stageSmashville. She also appears as a collectible trophy and a collectible sticker.

A trader who comes from afar to deliver merchandise. However, since she always forgets to bring a town map, she needs help making her deliveries. Once you've helped her finish all of her tasks, she'll reward you with a gift. Her unique way of phrasing is part of her exotic charm. It is a fine thing, yes?

NTSC-U: Traveling from a faraway land comes the wandering salescamel, Saharah. She's got wallpaper to paper your walls with and carpets to pet your cars with. That's kind of odd, actually... Maybe it's a tradition where she comes from? Either way, she brings many unique things with her when she visits.
PAL: A trader from a faraway land who's big on interior design. She doesn't have her own store, instead carrying her wares around as a travelling merchant - it's hard to tell where you'll find her next! She claims to have many wallpapers for the papering of walls, and carpets for the...petting of cars? Nobody's quite sure if she's being serious.
Saharah travels the world bartering rare carpets. Her trade-in deals are good to begin with, but she has a habit of jacking up the prices for repeat customers. It's anybody's guess how many rugs she has in that bag.
According tocrankyvillagers inCity Folk, Saharah's accent is fake. They claim that she used to do stand-up comedy at theMarquee and didn't have an accent.
Saharah appears on the album cover of "K.K. Condor."
