Rex is alazylionvillager in theAnimal Crossing series. He first appeared inDoubutsu no Mori, and after his appearance inDoubutsu no Mori e+, he remained absent from the series untilAnimal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo. Data for him exists inAnimal Crossing: Happy Home Designer but ultimately remains unused. He is the only lazy lion in the series. His name comes from the Latin word "rex," which means "king," relating to the common metaphor that lions are "kings of the jungle."

InNew Horizons, Rex has the naturehobby and may be found reading a book pertaining to an item he is studying, which can be either flowers, bugs, fish, or fossils.

Appearance[edit]

Rex is an orange lion with a brown mane. He has three freckles on both of his cheeks, and a dark brown nose. He has half-closed eyes with purple eyelids.

As alazy villager, Rex has a relaxed, laid-back lifestyle and will appear friendly toward the player. He often talks about food and is humorous or naïve during conversations. During conversations with other villagers, he generally gets along well withpeppy,smug, andcranky villagers, whilesnooty andjock villagers may not get along with him due to their conflicting lifestyles. InNew Horizons, Rex goes to sleep at 11 PM and wakes up at 8 AM.
