Thepier, known as thedock prior toAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, is a structure located at the beach in theAnimal Crossing series.

InDoubutsu no Mori+,Animal Crossing, andDoubutsu no Mori e+[edit]
InDoubutsu no Mori+,Animal Crossing, andDoubutsu no Mori e+, the dock is located inAcre F-5. InDoubutsu no Mori+ andAnimal Crossing it is initially empty, but Kapp'n will appear at the dock in his boat when aGame Boy Advance is connected to theNintendo GameCube. InDoubutsu no Mori e+, he appears from the beginning of the game, but cannot take the player to the island until they have fully paid off theirhome loan.
InNew Leaf[edit]
InAnimal Crossing: New Leaf, two days after paying off the 39,800Bell mortgage toTom Nook, the player can accessTortimer Island by meeting Kapp'n at the town's dock, similar toAnimal Crossing. Unlike the previous title, Kapp'n can transport up to four players from the dock at once, and he charges 1,000 Bells for the service. There is also a basket on the dock that allows the player to retrieve up to 40 items they have collected on the island.

InNew Horizons[edit]
InAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, the pier appears on the west or eastbeach of the island, and may be generated with a short or long length. Four fish—theblue marlin,giant trevally,mahi-mahi, andtuna—can only appear around the pier. These fish can also appear around the small dock present onMystery Tour islands. The pier can be freely decorated with items anddesigns, except on the steps connecting the pier to the beach.
Beginning in version2.0, once the player reaches a 3-starrating,Kapp'n will appear at the pier in his boat, and the player can speak to him to go on aboat tour for
1,000Nook Miles. Until3.0, the player could only go on one boat tour a day.
The pier is greatly expanded in version3.0 to accommodate the addition of thehotel, which is situated in the middle. Small lights are added along the edges to illuminate the pier at night. A drop box is added where the player can submitDIY goods that have been requested for Kapp'n to deliver offshore. Kapp'n's boat is also moved further along the pier, to the very end of the new extension. After completing the first VIP room, Kapp'n offers a second boat tour for
100Hotel Tickets.
