Owls are a type ofbird in theAnimal Crossing series, with their first appearance inAnimal Crossing forGameCube. They are nocturnalspecial characters.Blathers, themuseum's curator, was the only owl inAnimal Crossing. The museum wasn't featured inDoubutsu no Mori, hence, no owls were present in that game. WhenAnimal Crossing: Wild World was released,Celeste, Blathers's sister, was introduced alongside theObservatory. Thebulletin board fromAnimal Crossing: New Leaf onward also has an owl, only showing at night replacing the yellow bird that shows in the day—however, unlike the anthropomorphic Celeste and Blathers, it is a more realistic owl.
