Delete single-character species pages[edit]

There are currently 18 species pages for species that only contain a single character. All of them are no longer than one or two sentences, usually just describing what the character does or what they look like, which is already covered on that character's own article. Therefore, I propose that these pages be redirected to their respective characters' pages. The following pages would be affected by this:

~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 02:26, December 21, 2023 (EST)

Comment Comment For the most part, I don't have any attachment to the single-special-character species pages, though it would be a loss for thefox, gray langur, peacock, andreindeer pages specifically, since those happen to have additional information involving related villagers that are depicted to be the same as those species, in appearance only (e.g.Audie andChief on the fox page). Though that's not to say it means we should keep these species pages, because it's not like there's pages for every unique portrayal of an animal villager species (like zebra forSavannah, flamingo forFlora, etc.), just the villagers that coincidentally line up with special character species. Though I felt like it was worth noting for a fuller picture for the vote.HylianAngel (talk) 03:00, December 21, 2023 (EST)
Support Support I feel there isn't much point in giving a species a dedicated article if there's only one character of said species, cuz there really isn't much (if anything) the species page can cover that the character's article can't (lest we wanna fill 'em with a bunch of real-world info that has no relevancy to the character/series).
I also noticed that the axolotl page has an image of its real-life counterpart, with the only other species page with this distinction beingraccoon. Admittedly I question the necessity of these images (mostly the raccoon dog pic, anyway), but I'll save that for different discussion, I just wanted to bring it up.Snapping Turtle NH Icon.pngTheJacketedTerrapinSoft-Shelled Turtle NH Icon.png 14:00, December 21, 2023 (EST)
Comment Comment I feel that itwould be a good cleanup, but yeah, as stated above, some pages show some details, likeJulia resembling aPeacock orDeli looking like a gray tangur, although they are listed under different species.BrikyEmotion Greetings NH Icon.png 02:44, January 6, 2024 (EST)
Oppose Oppose While I get the reasons behind this, I think we shouldn't rule out the possibilities of new characters based on these species in case if futureAnimal Crossing games comes around. Case in point:New Horizons brought several new characters likeC.J.,Flick,Daisy Mae andGullivarrr, which represents beaver, chameleon, boar and seagull respectively, which prior toNew Horizons also have only one characters. If they didn't get introduced, these species pages might possibly be on jeopardy as well. There's also some trivia but notable mentions like fromErik and Julia which were easily found in these species pages. For these reasons, I have to disagree with this.Starry Windy 18:47, January 6, 2024 (EST)
If more characters in these species are introduced in later games, then we can recreate these pages then. But as it is now, these pages don't offer any information that isn't already on the character's page. I agree that it's worth noting the villagers who resemble some of these species, but that can be noted on that villager's page in the "Appearance" section.~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 18:55, January 6, 2024 (EST)
Comment Comment Could we not merge them all into a single page? --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 04:31, February 4, 2024 (EST)
Just want to bump this discussion with another thought I had: we don't currently have aSpecies article, and I was thinking of creating one. Any thoughts on incorporating the special character-only species info there? I do agree the current arrangement with each one having their own article is excessive. --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 08:52, December 22, 2024 (EST)
That sounds good! ISupport Support having a generalspecies article, while also redirecting the single-character species pages listed above to their respective characters' pages.AlexBot2004 (Talk) 22:30, December 22, 2024 (EST)
I'll play around in my sandbox and see what this could look like. I'm wondering if it's also worth merging all the different bird species (e.g. Pigeon) intoBird? I feel like it would be similar toDog, where we've included special characters encompassing various breeds of dog rather than having separate articles for Poodle, etc. --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 07:12, December 23, 2024 (EST)
Regarding merging the special-only birds: something I want to bring up is the fact that the e-Reader cards actually give special character-exclusive species their own species icons instead of a generic "SP" one. While all the special dogs and cats just reuse the same icon as their villager counterparts (For the cats,Bob, for example, compared toRover, andBianca; for the dogs,Portia, for example, compared toK.K. Slider,Copper, andBooker), none of the special bird characters use the "bird" villager icon (Admiral, for example, compared toPelly,Gulliver,Blathers, andFranklin; notice how each of them have a unique icon on the bottom left corner).
With the info I provided, it seems clear the special bird characters were meant to be considered their own species instead of a variant of the general "bird" species. While this technically doesn't confirm the statuses of Brewster, Pavé, and the dodos (since amiibo cards didn't retain the special species icons), in my opinion, I think their species are distinct and clear enough that it makes more sense to separate them as well. This only leaves the OK Motors birds into questions, whose exact species were never directly confirmed (their color scheme and some of their European names suggest they're supposed to be corvids, and their filenames all begin with "cw", which likely stands for "crow", but that's all there is to go off of).Snapping Turtle NH Icon.pngTheJacketedTerrapinSoft-Shelled Turtle NH Icon.png 20:44, December 23, 2024 (EST)
Ah, I've seen that before actually. I am wondering though if they abandoned the idea since they stopped using those symbols after that? I'm not super opposed to keeping them separate. Though I do thinkReindeer should be merged intoDeer, since its literally just a type of deer, and possiblyGray langur intoMonkey for similar reasons.
Also, looking at the special character species articles in more detail, I think we should actually just merge themall into theSpecies article. There's very little content on any of them, even the ones with more than one character. I don't feel there's much scope for expanding them either. I've beendrafting what this could look like in my sandbox (note that it's very unfinished).
I've also got to something to raise about Katrina in relation to all this, but I'll make a subsection below for this since it's only tangentially related.--Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 08:19, December 24, 2024 (EST)

Katrina's species[edit]

I think this has come up on the Discord before, but we haveKatrina's species listed as "Panther". But this isn't really a species. Well, there's a mythological creature called a "panther", but I'm pretty certain she not based on that. I think it's likely that Katrina is in fact aBlack panther, which is supported by her internal ID beingbpt, i.e.blackpanther. However, a black panther is not a species in itself, but rather a melanistic colour variant of a leopard or a jaguar. She also has an alternate leopard-print or jaguar-print outfit inHappy Home Designer, which would further support this IMO.

The question is:

  • Do we change her species designation to "Black Panther" (despite it not really being a species), and note that she is a variant of either a leopard or jaguar?
  • Or do we determine whether she's a leopard" or jaguar and change it to that, while noting she is specifically a variant known as a "black panther"?

Any thoughts? --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 08:19, December 24, 2024 (EST)

If we can't confirm if she's supposed to be a jaguar or a leopard, then I say change her designation to "black panther" and only make a note about her ambiguous "true species".Snapping Turtle NH Icon.pngTheJacketedTerrapinSoft-Shelled Turtle NH Icon.png 14:09, December 24, 2024 (EST)
Just wanted to point this out, and it's not like it can be used as evidence either way since the characters themselves might have a misunderstanding, but maybe it could be useful as part of the explanation if a note is used, but anyways,Leonardo is under the impression that Katrina is a black leopard (クロヒョウ,kuro hyou), according to hise-Reader card letter inDoubutsu no Mori e+.

Revisiting this in 2026[edit]

It's been a long awhile since this discussion began, and has never come to a resolution. Several users have helped contribute to the development of theSpecies article drafted in my sandbox, and I do think its ready now to be implemented into main article space (though further edits to the draft are welcomed). It's merely a question of what to do with the single-character species pages, since we never reached any consensus on that. These articles are in poor shape, and IMO there's little scope for improvement, so I don't think leaving them as is can be an option on the table.

I would like to propose that we redirectall of thespecial character species pages to the newspecies article, since all of them are covered in the draft we have. I know the initial discussion concerned just the single-character species pages, but actuallynone of the special character species pages are in good shape. Therefore, I feel it would be best to merge all of them into the new article where the relevant info can be found. Any thoughts on this idea? --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 05:26, February 1, 2026 (EST)

Support Support I agree with everything you've said here. There's very little useful information on these pages that isn't already in the character articles that these cover. Going forward, there should be a minimum of two characters in a species before an article is created. Thank you for doing the new species page, it looks good!Drago(talk)Drago PC Villager Icon.png 11:20, February 1, 2026 (EST)
Oppose Oppose I do like the idea of a species page for sure, and I will commend you on that. But I don't think there's any good reason to delete the special character species pages, and I think that even if a species only currently has a single member, it still deserves its own page like any other. The fact that there is only one member doesn't make it any less valuable as its own page than a species with two or more members. And several special-character species are definitely worth documenting beyond a table— the prime examples to me areraccoons (tanuki) andturtles (kappa), since they have multiple members and have been changed in localization. The special character species table on your sandbox is so large that it messes up the page display and takes a while to load, and the information there is substantive enough that it's too much to be merely part of a table. But it is valuable, and we should have it.
Maybe I'm just more of asplitter than a lumper here, but I believe short articles are not inherently a bad thing if there is only so much information on the topic, and articles being short or underdeveloped doesn't mean they should be deleted. I also think we do have enough information that these merit individual pages. So I am strongly opposed to this, and disagree that there's "little scope for improvement", as the content on your sandbox's table should go on the individual pages instead.
I will also note that regardless of which path is taken, we ought to be consistent and treat "species" the same way the games do, as general archetypes, as opposed to any real-life influence. Your draft is currently very inconsistent on this— why is Niko a "monkey", Jingle a "deer", and OK Motors crew are "birds" (that one is also a problem as things currently are), but Joan and Daisy Mae remain separate from "pigs" and the various avian special characters are not lumped with other "birds"? The villager species themselves of course do not, for the most part, correspond to actual species but broader taxa to varying degrees, and we rightly document birds/eagles, cows/bulls, bears/cubs, dogs/wolves, etc. separately. As far as these go, I think things are fine as they currently are with the exception of Beppe, Carlo and Giovanni, who ought to be considered "crows" separately.Chubby Bub (talk) 19:22, February 2, 2026 (EST)
I guess I'm more of a "lumper" ha, but I respect your position as a "splitter". Regarding performance issues, what browser/device are you using? I haven't encountered this myself, but I can investigate. If a table format isn't preferred, we can turn these into proper subsections, since the table ended up being a little broader than originally intended. I don't think there's enough info in it though to take the separate articles beyond mere stubs. It was honestly a real struggle to even come up with what we have in the table now (if you can help expand on them in any way, please feel free to edit the draft).
Regarding individual species, I agree with the need for consistency. I'd support merging the boars withpig, and splitting the crows away frombird. I actually don't know why the latter were lumped in with the birds to begin with. --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 05:00, February 3, 2026 (EST)
I would also agree that the table is too wide, actually. I do have to scroll to see all of it. Mileage may vary between users, though.Drago(talk)Drago PC Villager Icon.png 10:38, February 3, 2026 (EST)
I've changed it to sections. Is this any better? --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 12:11, February 3, 2026 (EST)
Regarding merging the boars with the pigs, I feel the need to bring up thatJoan's e-Reader card has a different species icon than that of the pig villagers (here'sRasher's card, for example), and I must reiterate that none of the special dog or cat characters have unique species icons from their villager counterparts; this proves that Joan was intended to be seen as a separate species from the pig villagers.
Honestly, I feel Jingle and Niko's species are distinct enough to count as separate from their villager counterparts, since they're clearly meant to represent a specific type of deer and monkey respectively, whereas the villager species are a lot more general. I'd even argue you could split Pascal from both Lyle and Lottie, given the former is a sea otter while the latter two are river otters.Snapping Turtle NH Icon.pngTheJacketedTerrapinSoft-Shelled Turtle NH Icon.png 04:07, February 4, 2026 (EST)
I'm not sure that the icons for special characters are consistent enough for us to firmly base anything on those alone (and in Jingle's case, there were no deer villagers back then anyway). They dropped the icons entirely for amiibo, but inHappy Home Designer they gave every individual special character their own "species" icon for some reason, with Blanca's being repurposed as a generic villager representation inPocket Camp. --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 06:40, February 4, 2026 (EST)
Support Support Great work on the species page! I think that page covers everything you could want for the special character species; there's not really anything to note that isn't already covered in those sections, so I'd support redirecting all those pages to the relevant section on the species page.AlexBot2004 (Talk) 15:05, February 3, 2026 (EST)

Use screenshots instead of artwork on special character pages[edit]

Right now, on special character pages in the "Appearances" sections for each game, we generally have artwork of that character from that game. However, I think screenshots from that game would be much more useful to readers, both in showing how the character appears/works in each game, and to better illustrate what is being described in the prose. I think artwork doesn't really add much and is better suited for the character's gallery page.~ AlexBot2004 (Talk) 16:44, December 25, 2023 (EST)

Support Support That's the most logical system for portraying the content and how it should consistently be everywhere. I think the only reason why it's not already like that is because of the lack of special character screenshots for each game in the series.Blanca andKatie in the older games would be especially difficult.HylianAngel (talk) 20:38, January 6, 2024 (EST)
Comment Comment I don't think it would betoo difficult to get pictures of elusive characters, as there are fairly straightforward ways to hack and/or use emulation on older games to force them to show up.K1ttyTheK4t (talk) 09:38, December 26, 2024 (EST)
Support Support Makes sense to me. We already showcase the artworks from each individual game in the gallery section, so better to use the Appearances section to show screenshots instead of duplicative artwork.~SuperHamsterTalkContribs 01:26, December 25, 2024 (EST)

Cantonese spelling[edit]

I'm not sure if it's alright to create a new section here because I've covered this on several threads before, but I think it would be a good time to discuss which kind of spelling that will be used on Cantonese romanizations. As described on previous threads, I'm not a Cantonese speaker, but I wanted the Cantonese spellings to be filled. The thing is, Cantonese has several known spellings which makes me not sure which one to put in.

You see, Yale romanization and Jyutping are two of the things that I considered. Yale seems to be used in a certain NIWA sites that I know of, like Bulbapedia, and some of the spellings here are Yale-esque. On other side, Jyutping is considered to be newer, and sites like Wiktionary seems to be fond of using it. I'll give some examples for comparison, but I'm taking cues from a certain pinyin converter, so I'm not 100% sure if it's accurate, but here goes:

Blathers (傅達)
Yale romanization: fuh daaht
Jyutping romanization: fu6 daat6

Brewster (老闆)
Yale romanization: lóuh báan
Jyutping romanization: lou5 baan2

Isabelle (西施惠)
Yale romanization: sāi sī waih
Jyutping romanization: sai1 si1 wai6

Now, I've been thinking three options. Option A is to have Yale romanization being used entirely, or Option B where Jyutping is used in all the pages. There's also Option C where Yale and Jyutping romanization being used side by side, even though I'm not sure if infoboxes would allow two of them. Or is there another way to do it? And what do you guys think? Please respond kindly, thanks.Starry Windy 11:15, January 3, 2024 (EST)

I'm down to changing how we do romanizations in general. A thing that bothers me is that there aren't many good sites out there that can get us accurate romanizations for Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (like any of them really). Definitely a goal to be made when Project Languages comes into fruition. --PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 07:36, January 6, 2024 (EST)
Actually, I think Chinese romanizations are pretty much standardized. For Simplified Chinese, we often useHanyu Pinyin which is widely used in Mainland China and Singapore according to Wikipedia, and is considered the international standard. And I'm pretty sure we've used this one in practically all articles that has it. Other notable romanizations includeGwoyeu Romatzyh which was used back then but rarely so nowadays, and also Wade-Giles and Yale.
Speaking of Yale, it has two kinds of romanizations, one for Mandarin andone for Cantonese. The latter apparently is still widely used, it's systematic in how things are spelled, which somehow almost mirrors Hanyu Pinyin in some ways. Apart from Yale, I also think ofJyutping as systematic spelling. And I haven't even get started onCantonese Pinyin, which is a real deal as well. Things to note, the reason I'm not sure on how accurate the Cantonese romanizations are is simply because I didn't learn much on Cantonese yet.Starry Windy 08:45, January 6, 2024 (EST)
It's moreso the fact that it's harder to find sites that can auto-romanize them, but I do feel it's important to have someone experienced with that language to handle that romanization. --PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 08:48, January 6, 2024 (EST)
Well, I do found one site for it. For the examples I gave above, I was taking reference fromthis site, and I find the spelling forMarina was a 100% match. It's from this site that I knew Bulbapedia used Yale spelling, too. Still, I also agreed that we need someone experienced on Cantonese, too.Starry Windy 08:55, January 6, 2024 (EST)

A new Project?[edit]

Idea: Project Languages! It would be centered around interwiki links and modifying the villagers' articles to make them more... accessible for those who don't speak English, such as links to theSpanish andGerman Animal Crossing wikis, and... More details in other languages than just the names, such as the photo quotes and catchphrases. You know, make the wiki more open to people who don't speak English.BrikyEmotion Greetings NH Icon.png 16:37, January 6, 2024 (EST)

I actually just looked at thetop post here, so maybe we could combine this with that? And Ialso saw an idea that comes from 2021 on theProjects talk page: Something called "Project Linguistics". Well, if it's okay for the creator of the original idea, I think I've found the name for this project!BrikyEmotion Greetings NH Icon.png 16:43, January 6, 2024 (EST)

Notice Box template cleanup[edit]

As part of my work on some interface improvements, I'm looking to reworkTemplate:Notice Box. Templates for discussion[edit]

Per consensus, I have done the following:Thank you all for your input on this --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 08:05, December 20, 2024 (EST)
The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section below.

I've been going through the different notice templates, and feel that there is scope to merge some and remove others. I'm proposing we deprecate, merge, or delete the following:

  • Template:Event
    • No longer used in any articles, so could be deprecated or deleted. It would be more suitable to add a field inTemplate:Infobox Event to denote region-exclusivity than to have a notice.
  • Template:NH Content
    • Was used specifically around the launch ofNew Horizons and is no longer needed for its intended purpose. Alternatively, we could make this one more generic so it can be repurposed for future titles.

--Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 18:58, May 19, 2024 (EDT)

  • {{Event}} - Agree. On pages where the template might be used, version exclusivity is already mentioned in the first line. Also official WiFi support for the applicable games has ended so very few users will be looking to attend these events anyway. Also agree that it makes sense to highlight this info in the infobox.
  • Agree with {{Expansion}} x {{Missing Information}} merge.
  • I actually like {{Future Page}} because when used properly it helps us see what pages other users are working on in their sandboxes, as it has an associated category. Its counterpart {{TemplateWIP}} is less useful/it can go.
  • Agree that {{NH Content}} should be made generic. Maybe turn it into Template:New Content?
  • Toss {{Rewrite}} & {{To-do}}, agree that {{Cleanup}} is good enough on its own.Sunmarshsignature.png(talk) 01:22, June 27, 2024 (EDT)
Support Support for any that deals with deprecation/deletion/merger. As for {{NH Content}}, I would definitely support repurposing it for future game content. --PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 21:52, August 29, 2024 (EDT)
  • {{Event}}: Agree on deprecate or delete. I think a full notice like that at the top of the page is too excessive. Region exclusivity is sufficiently covered in the lead prose (and perhaps the infobox).
  • {{Expansion}}: Agree on merging.
  • {{Future Page}}: I'm fine with this one. Might not see frequent use, but nice to have for drafts and sandboxes. {{TemplateWIP}} is kind of repetitive and can be merged/deprecated/deleted.
  • {{NH Content}}: Deprecate, or turn more generic if possible. IMO don't delete, good to have for history's sake.
  • {{Rewrite}} & {{To-do}}: Agree on tossing, merge into {{Cleanup}}.~SuperHamsterTalkContribs 23:50, August 29, 2024 (EDT)

Standardising color schemes[edit]

I want to make a potentially controversial proposal that we standardise the notice template colours. This would make them easier to maintain in the backend, give users a clearer indication as to the purpose of a notice, and allow us to better ensure accessibility standards are met for their design.

I've identified several categories our existing notices could fit into, and the idea is that all notices within the categories would share the same color scheme but can still have unique icons and text. I've not included file licensing templates, as I would like to make a distinct template for these instead of using the Notice Box template (and they currently all share the same design anyway).

CategoryDescriptionTemplates
NookipediaAll notices relating to Nookipedia itself. This would use the brand colors.
SystemSystem-related messages. Many of these already share a similar color scheme.
WarningAdvisories of user blocks and critical system notices. Would match the scheme of the warning/block templates.
AdvisoryNotices to users reflecting the content of the page (that needs more elaboration than usingTemplate:Content Notice).
EditingEditor-focused notices for articles that need attention or improvements.
RequestEditor-focused notices for page change requests.
Game UpdateThis one already uses styling to match update-related content on the wiki, and I think it should stay that way.

Great idea! This makes sense and I think will help give our pages/the site a more cohesive look.Sunmarshsignature.png(talk) 01:28, June 27, 2024 (EDT)

Museum Images[edit]

I'm thinking of adding some WW and NL museum photos to some fish articles. But I was wondering, am I supposed to find images online or can I take them myself? And if I do take them myself, from what angle/viewpoint do I take them?Coldramen15 (talk) 15:29, May 27, 2025 (EDT)

Duplicating a file[edit]

Hello I was wondering if I am allowed to upload a duplicate file for personal use? It will be used in my signature, and I think a duplicate would be better, as to not clog up the "file usage" section on the original. I am aware this will count towards my allowed number of user images.amethyst_hhh(talk) 15:58, October 5, 2025 (EDT)

Merge Geography and Flora categories[edit]

I'd like to suggest that we mergeCategory:Geography andCategory:Flora together into (or as subcategories of) a singleEnvironment category. There seems to be some overlap between the two, with several pages categorised as both, or featured in both navboxes. I feel they would be much stronger as a single, combined category.Category:Seasons could also be merged too as a subcategory.

I've drafted a potential navboxin my sandbox showing what this could look like, and the idea is that Environment templates would use the existing styling for Geography templates (the flower links in the navbox are because I would like to splitFlower into separate articles for each type, but that's a separate discussion). --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 16:57, November 13, 2025 (EST)

Support Support I think given how relatively small (and similar to each other) these categories are, they work much better together than separate. The combined navbox looks great!AlexBot2004 (Talk) 18:06, November 13, 2025 (EST)

Community pages clean-up[edit]

We've documented plenty of community sites over the years, and I'm starting to think we hit the limits on what we should and should not cover. With 3.0 on the horizons, I want to highlight a couple articles that I feel like are unnecessary to cover.

I think my main issue too is that each of these community article are too small, barebones, and not notable enough to be among the few community sites we cover. I appreciate any comments if you disagree with these choices though if there is something to warrant for covering these websites, but I think we need to be precise on what community site we talk about here. --PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 12:11, November 19, 2025 (EST)

I'm leaning tokeep all. The Community namespace is meant to document, well, community projects among other things. It's not currently considered a proper content namespace, and I think we can be quite liberal with our coverage given its low-stakes. Some of the articles may be short, but they document small but real projects in the AC community's history and I don't think keeping them harms anything. We should probably come up with more concrete inclusion criteria for these sorts of pages, but I'd probably want whatever that criteria is to cover the above pages.~SuperHamsterTalkContribs 16:50, November 19, 2025 (EST)
I personally don't want this to lead to anythingAnimal Crossing related to be eligible to have a page. It feels like we can make a page for a website that not every uses on a day-to-day basis. Not to mention our coverage on the Wikispaces wikis which again, I don't feel is something we need to be covering. We wouldn't want to have a page on other small-scale Animal Crossing wiki sites that isn't another language variant, do we? --PanchamBro (talkcontributions) 20:44, November 19, 2025 (EST)
I think we should either keep all of these websites, or none of them. I'd agree with SuperHamster that the short articles aren't always less notable, and sites like Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The Wiki were quite prominent back in the day (probably only second to Fandom in Google's search results). The Wikispaces sites will of course be mostly forgotten now that they've closed.
Still, these are all unofficial websites that aren't commonly given articles on the wikis of other video game series, so I'm not opposed to reserving the Community namespace for useful resources such as the spreadsheets.Drago(talk)Drago PC Villager Icon.png 13:36, November 20, 2025 (EST)
I'd be inclined to keep these pages for the same reasons as mentioned above. But if length is a problem, could we not just merge these into a single article? --Shark HHD Icon.pngDorsal Axe(talk) 14:11, November 20, 2025 (EST)

Are low quality images better than no images?[edit]

I want to make a table for the new items in New Horizons forSplatoon#Item list, but I am unable to upload screenshot quality images. I am wondering if I need to upload images in the best quality I can get, that can later be reuploaded by someone else, or if I need to not upload any, and just wait until someone else does?amethyst_hhh(talk) 04:37, January 15, 2026 (EST)

The transparent version is an unofficial edit of the artwork and should not be used outside of APIs and infoboxes; the original artwork should still be kept on our wiki.
