TheNintendo Entertainment System (often abbreviated asNES) is a video game console byNintendo. It was first released on October 18, 1985 in New York City test markets and was their second video game home console. It is the Western counterpart of theFamily Computer (often abbreviated asFamicom) which was first released on July 15, 1983 in Japan.
