Lottie is a riverotter[1] in theAnimal Crossing series who made her first appearance inAnimal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. She isLyle's niece.[1] Her name likely derives from her species.
Prior toAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, she worked forNook's Homes and serves as a guide forplayers as they designed homes. InAnimal Crossing: New Horizons – Happy Home Paradise, she is the founder ofParadise Planning, a company that specializes in creating dream vacation homes forvillagers.

Lottie is a pink river otter with brown hair tied into a bun. She has small round eyes with three black eyelashes each, three freckles each below her eyes, a blackish-brown nose with a white oval dot, orange inner ears, and a 3-shaped smiling mouth with darkish-red inside. Without makeup, her eyes are small.
Clothing[edit]
InHappy Home Designer,amiibo Festival,Welcome amiibo andPocket Camp, like the other employees in Nook's Homes, Lottie wears a red uniform with white buttons, along with a navy skirt and a yellow necktie. She also wears an aqua/blackish-gray hair ribbon with white polka dots and aqua/black shoes.
InNew Horizons andHappy Home Paradise, Lottie no longer wears her Nook's Homes employee outfit, instead wearing aParadise Planning muumuu, an aqua hair tie with a cream-colored flower, an aqua bracelet, and aqua sandals.
Personality[edit]
Lottie is cheerful and hard-working. When the player gains specific Paradise Planning titles, she then invites the player,Niko andWardell for parties on the Paradise Planning office's second floor, in thecafé or in therestaurant.

InWelcome amiibo[edit]
Although Lottie is absent in the original release ofAnimal Crossing: New Leaf, she appears in theWelcome amiibo update, showing the player how to use the bottom screen to move furniture after building the Secret Storage extension. She can also be seen after successfully connectingHappy Home Designer data to the game, invited by Isabelle, and mails the player the Nook's Homes model.
InNew Horizons[edit]
Lottie appears inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons as part of theHappy Home Paradise paid expansion.Tom Nook will introduce the player to Lottie at theairport onceResident Services has been upgraded. Lottie explains that she used to work for Tom Nook, but has since moved to thearchipelago to establish her own business,Paradise Planning. Her plan for the business to design custom vacation homes for tourists. At Tom Nook's recommendation, she recruits the player to work for her as a designer, before departing via plane.
When the player arrives to start work at Paradise Planning, Lottie leads their induction, and formally introduces them to her employees;Niko, a knowledgeable local who can ferry the player between the different islands of the archipelago, andWardell, who is responsible for furniture procurement and the office gift shop. Lottie operates the front desk, and deals with administration. The player must speak with her whenever they wish to start or finish work, prompting the player to immediately change into or out of their work uniform.
After the player offers to design a home for a potential client, Lottie will hold meeting with both to discuss requirements for the design. Upon successful completion of a job, Lottie will pay the player inPoki. The amount received is proportional to the type of job, or how closely the player followed a client's vision, as well as their job rank. When the player reaches milestones for the total number of design projects completed, Lottie will offer to host a celebration at the office with the other employees. When completingfacilities, she will offer to host a celebration inside the facility itself.
After completing 20 home designs, Lottie will task the player with making preparations for amusic festival to be held on the main island. The player must design a further 10 homes, as well as thehospital andapparel shop facilities. Once the player has completed these tasks, the festival is held on the main island, headlined byDJ KK. Lottie travels to the northern beach with Niko, Wardell, and the player to enjoy the festivities. Afterwards, the team celebrate their success, before Wardell reveals that he is personal friends with DJ KK. Lottie reacts with shock, before quietly pondering if Wardell can obtain DJ KK's autograph for her. When everyone returns to the office, Lottie teaches the player several dance movereactions.
If the player designs Lottie's home, she will send themher photo.Lottie's poster can be obtained fromNook Shopping after inviting her toPhotopia via heramiibo card. If summoned toThe Roost, she will also bring along Niko and Wardell. If Tom Nook,Lyle, orDigby are invited to The Roost, Lottie will accompany them.
InHappy Home Designer[edit]
Lottie is the receptionist at Nook's Homes inAnimal Crossing: Happy Home Designer. She also helps train the player and talks them through the process of preparing a villager's house, before arriving at the site, like letting the player choose a site and a layout. Lottie also can help the player log onto Happy Home Network and change the settings for the network. Lottie is seen every day at her desk, typing. Talking to her normally results in suggestions to drum up business; however, rarely, she can be seen without mascara, and she talks about that instead.
InPocket Camp[edit]
InAnimal Crossing: Pocket Camp, Lottie hosts multiplegarden events, these include theGothic Rose Festival and theWedding Expo event. Lottie is later given a larger role in this game as the host ofHappy Homeroom, an area similar in design toAnimal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.
