In theAnimal Crossing series, there are a number ofunseen characters who generally play very little role and may simply be mentioned byvillagers.

Able sisters' parents[edit]

The late parents ofSable,Label, andMabel are occasionally mentioned by Sable once the player befriends her. They were the original owners of theAble Sisters shop before Mabel and Sable inherited it. A wedding photo of the two is displayed in the Able Sisters in all games.

Clerk[edit]

Theclerk is a female character inAnimal Crossing: City Folk that sells tickets atThe Marquee. She is very formal and never reveals anything about her personal life. It is unknown what she looks like, as she is always behind the counter, selling tickets to shows ofDr. Shrunk andMaster Frillard.

If theplayer tries to go through the doors into the theater without paying for a ticket, the clerk will request that the player pays for a ticket first.

Dad[edit]

Dad is the player's father in theAnimal Crossing series, who writes to them onFather's Day inAnimal Crossing: City Folk andAnimal Crossing: New Leaf with an exclusivered carnation attached to the letter. He writes to the player more often inAnimal Crossing: New Leaf.

Emcee[edit]

Theemcee is a special character featured only inAnimal Crossing: City Folk. She announces Dr. Shrunk's (or Frillard's) show, featured at The Marquee, after paying 800Bells to the clerk and choosing anemotion to learn. The species of the Emcee is unknown, as she is always off-stage, announcing the show.

Gyroid Gyroid[edit]

Gyroid Gyroid is an unseen character inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons mentioned during certain conversations between twopeppy villagers. They are a singer onTV whose lyrics consist ofgyroid-like sounds.

Hayseed Hilda[edit]

Hayseed Hilda is a character whose letters sometimes appear in aNote in a Bottle inAnimal Crossing: Wild World. Her letters express a craving for apples, while complaining that her town lacks them while wishing that someone would share theirs.

Legal Eagles[edit]

TheLegal Eagles are supposedly a team ofeagle lawyers mentioned byOrville inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons whenever the player is given mandatory legal information regarding some form of online play. Orville will claim the Legal Eagles require him to show the player the information before doing so.

Little Mac[edit]

Little Mac is the main character in thePunch-Out!! series of games made byNintendo. In the European version ofAnimal Crossing: City Folk, one of theDLC items sent out to players (the Green Headgear) came with a letter by Little Mac. The letter reads:

Dear <Player>,
I've been training for my comeback and I need your help! Wear my headgear with pride so you can roll with the punches!
From Little Mac

Although he sends this letter and item, he does not actually appear in the game; hence, he is an implied character.

Mom[edit]

Mom is the player's mother in allAnimal Crossing games. She often sendsletters to the player, especially around special event days, and sometimes with gifts attached. The letters themselves often mention her memories with the player and Dad.

She sends the player apink carnation onMother's Day.

Moppina[edit]

Moppina is an unseen mop character thatnormal villagers frequently refer to in conversation inAnimal Crossing: Wild World, reflecting upon their reserved and shy nature. The mop is revealed to be the best friend of a normal villager, and conversations between two normal villagers will reveal that Moppina is the friend of any normal villager in thetown. When talking to other normal characters, it is revealed they both talk to it, try out hairstyles on it and even cook with it. Normal characters also talk tosnooty types about Moppina, but not with as much success. When they talk to peppy villagers about Moppina, the peppy villager asks if they can meet her. Moppina is mentioned inMaple'spicture inAnimal Crossing: Wild World, with the quote "Maple + Moppina = BFF!"

Although mops are available fromTom Nook's store for 900Bells, they cannot be interacted in the way as normal villagers are believed to interact with them.

Raccoon Goons[edit]

TheRaccoon Goons are a group of an unspecified number of raccoons mentioned by Tom Nook inAnimal Crossing once the player is done working for him. After mentioning the group, he stresses that it was a joke, making it unclear as to whether they do indeed exist. They have never been mentioned again.

Santa Claus[edit]

Santa Claus is an unseen character in theAnimal Crossing series based on the well-known Christmas figure. Various characters such asJingle, the player's father, and villagers mention Santa in relation toToy Day. Jingle himself is Santa's assistant in delivering presents on Toy Day.

Satoru Iwata[edit]

Iwata's letter

Satoru Iwata was the president of Nintendo from 2002 until his death in 2015. If the player connected to theNintendo Wi-Fi Connection inAnimal Crossing: Wild World on January 12, 2006, they would receive a letter from Iwata with a gift enclosed.

The Singing Bug Boy[edit]

The Singing Bug Boy is an unseen character inAnimal Crossing that sometimes comes up on letters shown bysnooty villagers. In said letters, the bug boy writes a random tip for catching bugs in the form of a song, before ending the letter out of nowhere with "Buuuuuuuuuuuugs!".

Tiny Tommy Hicks[edit]

Tiny Tommy Hicks is a resident fromBoondox thatPelly orPhyllis will tell the player about when she/he donates a certain amount of Bells to Boondox inAnimal Crossing: Wild World. He does not appear in the game. He seems to be a reference to Tiny Tim Cratchitt, a character from Charles Dickens' novelA Christmas Carol. In the novel, Tiny Tim is a small, disabled boy around the age of five. He and his family live in poverty and can barely make "ends meet".

Unnamed fugitives[edit]

InDoubutsu no Mori,Doubutsu no Mori+,Animal Crossing, andDoubutsu no Mori e+, two unnamed fugitives can be seen on a poster labeled "wanted" at the back of thepolice station, though their names are illegibly written. The fugitive on the left appears to resemble a large, malegoat, while the fugitive on the right appears to be a femalebear orrabbit with long hair and a human-like face. InAnimal Crossing andDoubutsu no Mori e+, a third wanted poster also appears outside of the police station, who resembles afox ortanuki. Nothing is known about these criminals, as neitherBooker norCopper will acknowledge them, except they are on the run from the law after committing an unknown crime.

Unnamed police officer[edit]

An unnameddog dressed as a police officer appears on a promotional poster within the police station inDoubutsu no Mori,Doubutsu no Mori+,Animal Crossing,Doubutsu no Mori e+, andAnimal Crossing: New Leaf. The officer appears on this poster giving a salute with the tagline "I want U!" written above them. The poster itself appears to be a parody ofUncle Sam, a mascot of the United States who appears on "I want you!" posters to promote enlistment in the American Military.

Vicious Vole Vinnie[edit]

Vicious Vole Vinnie is an unseen cousin ofDon andSonny Resetti. Resetti mentions him inAnimal Crossing: Wild World. If the player fails to save on multiple occasions, Resetti will threaten the player, suggesting that, he might even "go a few rounds" with his cousin, Vicious Vole Vinnie. This is a reference to the filmMy Cousin Vinny, as Resetti and Vinnie are both tough and menacing like the title character, although the vole's name is spelled as "Vinnie" rather than "Vinny."

Wishy the Star[edit]

Wishy the Star is the name of an entity that sends the player a letter after making a wish upon a shooting star inAnimal Crossing: Wild World andAnimal Crossing: New Leaf. It is implied that the star the player wishes upon is Wishy itself, though the player can make wishes upon multiple stars during ameteor shower.Animal Crossing: New Horizons allows the player to make wishes upon shooting stars, however no letter is received in this game.

Wisp's masters[edit]

Wisp's master is one of several characters mentioned byWisp inAnimal Crossing when encountered by the player. Wisp's nickname for his master varies, and according to Wisp, a "horrible punishment awaits" if he fails his task for his master. Nicknames include:
