The axe can be obtained fromTom Nook's store for 400Bells. The axe will not appear for sale until the player has bought or sold[nb 2] 12,000Bells-worth of items at the store. The axe can also occasionally be found at thelost and found.
InDoubutsu no Mori, the axe is unbreakable and does not appear in thecatalog; inAnimal Crossing andDoubutsu no Mori e+, it can be used up to 72 times[nb 3] before breaking (hence the new, unbreakablegolden axe), and it does appear in the catalog.
