Hornsby is alazyrhinocerosvillager in theAnimal Crossing series. He first appeared inDoubutsu no Mori, and after his appearance inDoubutsu no Mori e+, he remained absent from the series untilAnimal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo. Data for him exists inAnimal Crossing: Happy Home Designer but ultimately remains unused. He is the only lazy rhinoceros in the series. His name comes from the horn on his head.

InNew Horizons, Hornsby has the naturehobby and may be found reading a book pertaining to an item he is studying, which can be either flowers, bugs, fish, or fossils.

Appearance[edit]

Hornsby is a blue rhinoceros with yellow horns and pink ears with smaller black insides. He also has black eyes pointing in opposite directions, which appear to be pointing to his back when viewed to the side. On the back of his head are dark blue stripes.

As alazy villager, Hornsby has a relaxed, laid-back lifestyle and will appear friendly toward the player. He often talks about food and is humorous or naïve during conversations. During conversations with other villagers, he generally gets along well withpeppy,smug, andcranky villagers, whilesnooty andjock villagers may not get along with him due to their conflicting lifestyles. InNew Horizons, Hornsby goes to sleep at 11 PM and wakes up at 8 AM.

InAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, if Hornsby is one of the villagers who moved in during the main storyline after the villager house development quest, his house will have a combination of non-craftable furniture, plus items crafted by players during the island development storyline, primarily from theLog Series and applicable native fruit sets. He cannot have his initial house interior unless he moves out of the player's island or theHappy Home Paradise DLC is purchased, in which either the player orIsabelle can reset the interior.

With theversion 1.6.0 update, thePile of Zen Cushions directly left of the entrance was moved to the west side of the house, and theStacked Magazines directly right of the entrance was moved to the east side of his house, making it easier for the player to navigate around.
