Gullivarrr is aseagull inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons introduced in the 1.3.0Free Summer Update Wave 1 who shares strong similarities withGulliver. Similar to Gulliver, theplayer can encounter Gullivarrr as he washes ashore dressed as a pirate captain. His name is a portmanteau ofGulliver andarrr, a phrase used by pirates in popular culture.

Appearance[edit]
Gullivarrr strongly resembles Gulliver, being a white seagull with an orange and black beak and thick orange eyebrows. He is dressed with a pirate hat and a red tatteredsea captain's coat. His eyes differ slightly from Gulliver's, with his pupils being shaped like X's rather than diamond-star symbols, as well as having dark rings around his eyes.
Personality[edit]
Like Gulliver, Gullivarrr loves sleeping and talking in his sleep at the same time after washing up on the shore of theisland's beach. He will not wake up until the player talks to him multiple times. If the player then helps him find his singlecommunicator, he then becomes grateful and rewards the player with an item from thePirate Series or a pirate-themed article of clothing the following day.
LikeKapp'n and his family, Gullivarrr has a pirate-like accent, since he is a pirate himself.

InNew Horizons[edit]
Initially, as the player repeatedly tries to speak to the character to wake him up, the nametag above the dialogue box will sayGulliver; however, once he is awakened (either by repeatedly talking to him, or in theNintendo Switch 2 Edition immediately using themegaphone), he will introduce himself as Captain Gullivarrr, and his nametag changes to Gullivarrr accordingly. He will then ask the player to retrieve his singlecommunicator (contrasting from the fivecommunicator partsGulliver asks for). The communicator can be found in thesea and must be retrieved bydiving with awet suit. Once the communicator is found, Gullivarrr will contact his pirate crew, and thenext day, the player will receive a letter from Gullivarrr containing an item from thePirate Series or a pirate-themed article of clothing.
Gullivarrr will first appear after a player buys a wet suit for the first time. After that, Gullivarrr appears every one to two weeks.
Despite the names, appearances, and predicaments being similar between Gullivarrr and Gulliver, Gullivarrr does not recognize the player, even if they have already met Gulliver. Additionally, helping Gullivarrr does not count toward the 30 times for obtaining thegolden shovelDIY recipe from Gulliver. Notably however, Gulliver cannot be invited to the Hotel when Gullivarr is present on the island.

- When awoken, Gullivarrr sometimes mentionsCortez, a boss fromPaper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. Additonally, while talking to the player, he may mentionKeelhaul Key from the same game as well.
- Gullivarrr may mentionCrocodile Isle fromDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest in his dialog with the player.
- Gullivarrr compares the player toCaptain Syrup from theWario Land series.
- When declining to help him, Gullivarrr may say that he wasn't this betrayed since he loaned his coat toLinebeck, a character fromThe Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.
