Explorer's Day is an event in theAnimal Crossing series that occurs on the second Monday ofOctober. It appears inAnimal Crossing and the North American versions ofAnimal Crossing: City Folk andAnimal Crossing: New Leaf.
Explorers Day is based onColumbus Day, a holiday commemorating the landing of explorer Christopher Columbus in the New World on October 14, 1492.

InAnimal Crossing[edit]
On Explorer's Day,Tortimer can be found outside of thewishing well. If the player speaks to him, they will receive abottled ship.
InCity Folk[edit]
In North American towns inAnimal Crossing: City Folk,Tortimer appears outsidetown hall and will give the player asailboat model if spoken to. After the discontinuation of theNintendo Wi-Fi Connection in 2014, the sailboat model can only be obtained in the North American version of the game.
InNew Leaf[edit]
In North American towns inAnimal Crossing: New Leaf,Isabelle can be found hosting the event at theplaza. Like previous games, the player will be given asailboat model. A cutout is available for players to pose and take screenshots in.
