Copper, also known asOfficer Copper,^{[nb 4]} is adog in theAnimal Crossing series. He works as a police officer inAnimal Crossing andAnimal Crossing: New Leaf, and as a guard inAnimal Crossing: Wild World andAnimal Crossing: City Folk. He works alongsideBooker in all games exceptNew Leaf. His name comes from the wordcopper, a slang term for a police officer.

Characteristics[edit]

Appearance[edit]

Copper is a brown dog with a white muzzle and paws. He resembles theAkita, the national dog of Japan. InDoubutsu no Mori,Doubutsu no Mori+,New Leaf, andNew Horizons, he wears a blue police officer uniform and a cap with a badge on it. InAnimal Crossing, the police officer uniform has a lighter shirt and hat, the badge on his hat is a different design, and has a badge on his shirt. InWild World andCity Folk, he wears a red guard uniform and a teal helmet.

Personality[edit]

Copper is confident and hard-working, taking pride in his duty as a police officer or guard. He prides early risers and warns theplayer to be careful when wandering around at night. He is serious and straight-laced, to the point of actually warning the player aboutApril Fools' Day pranks. He is also athletic, exercising on the job and hosting themorning aerobics inAnimal Crossing. This contrasts with Booker's timid personality.

Appearances[edit]

InAnimal Crossing[edit]

InAnimal Crossing, Copper works outside thepolice station and will inform the player of upcoming and current events or visitors. He will also give maps to players visiting from other towns. From 6 AM to 7 AM from July 25 to August 31, Copper hosts themorning aerobics, instructing the player, villagers, andTortimer with various exercises. He can also be seen exercising at the police station from 5 AM to 6 AM.

Copper may be asleep outside the police station at night, and the player can wake him up by speaking to him.

InWild World andCity Folk[edit]

InAnimal Crossing: Wild World andAnimal Crossing: City Folk, Copper stands opposite of Booker inside thecheckpoint. He can allow the player to visit othertowns, open and close the gate, and be assigned aFriend Code.

InNew Leaf[edit]

InAnimal Crossing: New Leaf, Copper works inside the police station, operating thelost and found. He only appears if the modern police stationpublic works project is built, as Booker works in the classic police station.

In theWelcome amiibo update, Copper can appear in hisRV at thecampground at random if the modern police station is not built.

InNew Horizons[edit]

Following theversion 2.0 update inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, Copper can appear as a customer atThe Roost. He will always be joined by Booker. He can also be invited toPhotopia via hisamiibo, after whichCopper's poster can be obtained fromNook Shopping.

InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl[edit]

InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, Copper can sometimes be seen in the background of the Smashville stage. Copper also appears alongside Booker as a trophy and a sticker in this game as part of theAnimal Crossing series.

InSweet Day[edit]

Copper appears alongsideBooker in theNintendo Land gameAnimal Crossing: Sweet Day as one of the 6 playable characters' costumes. In the game, the GamePad uses and to control Copper.

InSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U[edit]

InSuper Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U, Copper has a chance of appearing in the background of the stage Smashville, but only in the Wii U version. In the Nintendo 3DS version, he once again appears alongside Booker as a trophy.
