Candy as it appears inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons

Candy is an item that appears inAnimal Crossing,Animal Crossing: City Folk,Animal Crossing: New Leaf, andAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, often depicted as a sweet wrapped in a red, yellow, green or blue-striped wrapper. In the games in which candy is present, it can be obtained in a variety of different ways- most commonly being sold throughoutOctober in preparation forHalloween. The player can also obtain candy during certainevents, often as a "losing" prize, with the method of obtaining it varying between games. Some players may consider candy to be a piece ofTrash in the same way thatspoiled turnips, empty cans, boots and tyres are, despite no game considering candy as such. This may be due to the fact that in some games, candy can spawnants around it after being dropped on the ground.

Appearances[edit]

InAnimal Crossing[edit]

On Halloween night inAnimal Crossing, from 6 PM until 1 AM the following morning, villagers dressed asJack, the Czar of Halloween, chase theplayer in hopes of receivingcandy. If the player refuses to give any candy, the clothes or inventory items are transformed. When players give candy to Jack, they will receive an item from theSpooky Series in return.

During October,Tom Nook sells up to five pieces of candy per day at a price of 100 bells each. They take the place of flower bags in the shop from October 16 to October 30, while flower bags take the place of saplings, meaning no saplings are sold while candy is being sold.

InCity Folk[edit]

InAnimal Crossing: City Folk, there are four colors of candy:blue, green, red, andyellow. Candy can be given to the player by visiting the houses of the villagers who stayed in on Halloween night by wearing acostume. Also, during the new event,Festivale, candy can be won from villagers in luck-based challenges excepthide-and-seek and can be supplied to the host of the festival -Pavé. He will ask for three of a certain colored-wrapper of candy, which will reward the player withFestivale Series furniture. They also can be found onBunny Day, in some eggs. If the player leaves candy on the ground, ants can appear crawling over it.

During October, Tom Nook sells one piece of candy per day inAnimal Crossing: City Folk, and they cost 400 Bells each.

InNew Leaf[edit]

InAnimal Crossing: New Leaf, candy is no longer a part of Festivale (its role being replaced by feathers) and returns to having only one color as a result. On Halloween, fewer villagers will be out to chase after the player, with most remaining in their houses for trick-or-treating with a costume or scaring them with a mask. If a villager catches up to the player and the player gives them a piece of candy, the villager will inform the player of the mask required to scare a certain villager, which varies based on the villager's species and personality. Successfully scaring a villager for the first time will have them give the player a Lollipop, a special type of candy that can be given to Jack in exchange for an item from theCreepy Theme rather than the Spooky Series. Scaring a villager more than once results in receiving regular candy.

Throughout the month of October, the player can purchase candy from theNookling Stores, replacing oneFortune Cookie in their inventory. If Nookling Junction has not been upgraded toT&T Mart, then Fortune Cookies cannot be purchased during this month.

Candy is also available on Bunny Day and takes the form of a losing prize. On Bunny Day, the player collects eggs hidden throughout their town. When an egg is eaten, the item inside will either be a Prize Ticket, Grand Prize Ticket, or a piece of candy.
