Bunny Day

Bunny Day is anevent in theAnimal Crossing series that occurs on a Sunday between March 22 and April 25. It is based onEaster and featuresZipper T. Bunny, a rabbit who gives the player themed items in exchange for eggs. InAnimal Crossing: City Folk andAnimal Crossing: New Leaf, Bunny Day is the sole source of items from theEgg Series, and inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, it is the source of items from theBunny Day Series.

InCity Folk[edit]

InAnimal Crossing: City Folk, the Bunny Day event revolves around anEaster egg hunting competition. 30Bunny eggs are buried around the town, which can be opened to reveal eithercandy (18) or aBunny foil (12). Zipper will exchange one Bunny foil for an item from theEgg Series. Each player character gets their own set of eggs.

Thevillagers around town do not get involved in the events, but they do talk about Zipper and finding mysterious eggs buried around the town.

InNew Leaf[edit]

InAnimal Crossing: New Leaf, Zipper will ask players to find 6 kinds of eggs hidden around the town.

Tree egg: Can be found by shaking trees.
Earth egg: Can be found by digging them up from the ground. They appear as cracks, likefossils.
Stone egg: Can be found by breaking openrocks.
Sky egg: Can be found hanging on balloons floating around.
Water egg: Can be found by fishing.
Deep-sea egg: Can be found by diving.

If a player brings one of each egg to him, he gives them anegg basket. Afterward, the player no longer has to give Zipper eggs for prizes—rather, they must eat the eggs to get eithercandy, awinning ticket, or agrand-prize ticket. He will accept winning tickets in return for items of the Egg Series. A grand-prize ticket can be exchanged forZipper's pic. Winning tickets and grand-prize tickets cannot be sold; however, candy can be sold for 100Bells each.

The odds of finding a grand-prize ticket within an egg change based on the player's good itemluck. Below are the odds of finding a candy, winning ticket, or grand-prize ticket:

It has been observed that, if all rocks which contain stone eggs are not emptied by the end of the day, the rocks will turn into regular unbreakable rocks.^{[citation needed]} However, this is uncommon. Solutions, such as time-traveling to the day after the event, opening the game, and exiting without saving, have been suggested.

In certain years where Bunny Day falls on April 1, such as 2018, Bunny Day andApril Fool's Day take place on the same day. If this occurs, both Zipper andBlanca visit the player's town at the same time.

InNew Horizons[edit]

InAnimal Crossing: New Horizons, the Bunny Day celebrations last for eight days (12 days prior to version 1.9.0) and end on Bunny Day itself, with Zipper appearing on the first and last days. Throughout the event,players can find eggs which can be used to craft Bunny Day SeriesDIY furniture and clothing.

6 types of eggs can be found around the player's island and onMystery Tours:

Earth egg: Buried in the ground and marked with a star, like fossils. A maximum of ten spawn on the days before Bunny Day, while a maximum of fifteen spawn on Bunny Day.
Leaf egg: Appears on hardwood trees and can be shaken off.
Sky egg: Dropped by striped balloons when hit with aslingshot ornet. These do not affect regular balloon rates and only appear on the player's island.
Stone egg: Dispensed occasionally when hitting arock with ashovel oraxe. Rates for other materials dropped by rocks differ depending on if the player has builtNook's Cranny.
Water egg: Randomly caught whilefishing medium-sized fish in rivers, ponds, and the sea.
Wood egg: Dispensed occasionally when choppingtrees with anaxe (coconut trees are more likely to drop eggs than other types of trees).

All except the sky eggs have a higher rate on mystery islands.

At the start of the event, Zipper requests the player to construct all furniture items from the Bunny Day Series before giving them the recipe for theBunny Day bed. If Zipper is first talked to after obtaining the Bunny Day bed recipe, he instead gives the player a random DIY recipe they do not already have. If the player does not talk to Zipper while he is on the island and the day moves forward, he sends the DIY recipe to the player in aletter.

The other furniture recipes can be found in unique Bunny Day-themedballoons, inmessage bottles along the beach, or given to the player byvillagers. In total, there are 15 recipes that can be obtained this way, including 11 furniture items, a wallpaper, a flooring, a rug, and a fence. 18 clothing DIY recipes can be unlocked by collecting enough of each type of egg; upon learning all of these recipes, the player learns the recipes for theegg party hat andegg party dress. Throughout the event, villagers mostly talk about their excitement for Bunny Day over other topics, as well as give hints to the player about where higher dispense rates are (such as hitting rocks on mystery islands or harvesting wood from palm trees). InNook's Cranny since version1.9.0, several additional Bunny Day items are sold during the week leading up to and on Bunny Day, including theBunny Day candy,Bunny Day garden flag,Bunny Day planter box,Bunny Day topiary, and theBunny Day tree.

On Bunny Day itself, Zipper appears outside ofResident Services, and villagers can be seen wearing Bunny Day-themed clothing. If talked to, Zipper asks the player to bring him one of each type of egg. If the player does so, he gives them aBunny Day basket and lets them trade three of the same type of egg for one egg of the player's choice. If the player has learned and crafted all 15 non-clothing recipes, as well as theBunny Day bag andBunny Day crown for a total of 17 recipes before the end of Bunny Day, Zipper gifts them two unique recipes: aWobbling Zipper toy and aBunny Day wand. The Wobbling Zipper Toy will first need to be crafted in order to receive the recipe for the Bunny Day wand. Additionally, villagers can give the player the DIY recipes for the Bunny Day bag and Bunny Day crown if spoken to.

On subsequent Bunny Days, Zipper immediately gives the player a Bunny Day wand instead of asking them to learn the Bunny Day recipes.

Inamiibo Festival[edit]

In theBoard Game mode inAnimal Crossing: amiibo Festival, Zipper appears and all spaces turn into egg spaces. When a space is walked over, the player receives eggs, and after they stop moving, they receive a corresponding number of Happy Points. Green spaces give 1–2 eggs, silver spaces give 4–5 eggs, and gold spaces give 10 eggs.

Recurrence[edit]

Bunny Day coincides withEaster in the real world, which occurs on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or afterMarch 21, and can fall on any date between March 22 and April 25. InNew Horizons, celebrations begin 7 days prior to Bunny Day, corresponding with the real-worldHoly Week^{[nb 2]}
