Donating to the museum[edit]

As with all fish in theAnimal Crossing series, the betta can be donated to the island'smuseum by talking toBlathers, the curator. He will say the following when given a betta:

InNew Horizons[edit]

When donating to Blathers or selecting "Tell me about this!" inNew Horizons, he will provide the following information about the fish:

"Thebetta has long fins and beautiful coloring. It is a tropical fish popular in decorative aquariums. They're very territorial and will fight to complete exhaustion, so aquarists must keep them carefully. Rarely do such beauty and violence commingle outside the rowdiest of sunset-viewing parties."

Once donated to the museum, the betta can be found in the fish tank in the entrance room alongside theAngelfish and theNibble Fish.

Real-world information[edit]

The betta, or Siamese fighting fish, is native to Southeast Asia. They live in shallow bodies of water such as marshes or streams. Bettas are very territorial and aggressive, especially the males, and they may attack and possibly kill each other if kept in the same tank.
