Benedict is alazychickenvillager in theAnimal Crossing series. He first appeared inDoubutsu no Mori e+ and has appeared in all subsequent games. His name may come from the meal,eggs Benedict, which includes a poached egg, relating to his species. His favorite saying also references eggs.

InNew Horizons, Benedict has the playhobby and can run around with his arms extended at any time, rather than only outside Resident Services during a scripted activity with a group of villagers.

Benedict is a scarlet chicken with a white face and a yellow beak, feet, and comb. He has swollen cheeks. His eyes do not close whenever he smiles.

As alazy villager, Benedict has a relaxed, laid-back lifestyle and will appear friendly toward the player. He often talks about food and is humorous or naïve during conversations. During conversations with other villagers, he generally gets along well withpeppy,smug, andcranky villagers, whilesnooty andjock villagers may not get along with him due to their conflicting lifestyles. InNew Horizons, Benedict goes to sleep at 11 PM and wakes up at 8 AM.
