International Lego Art Exhibition Opens In Israel This Month

ByAnjali Berdia, NoCamelsJuly 16, 2019 < 1minute

The renowned international Lego Art Exhibition, “The Art of the Brick,” returns to Israel this summer for the first time since 2013 for a showing open to the public between July 25 to August 31. The exhibition will feature large scale, 3D Lego sculptures created by Nathan Sawaya, an award-winning, American “Brickartist.”

“The Art of the Brick” is a lego exhibition that seriously considers legos, a universally acknowledged children’s toy, as a medium to create whimsical, meaningful sculptures. Reverence and appreciation for the exhibit have grown exponentially since its debut in 2007, allowing the show to travel throughout the world and thus earn its spot onCNN’s Top 10 Must-See Global Exhibitions.

“The museum exhibition is accessible because it engages the child in all of us while simultaneously illuminating sophisticated and complex concepts. Everyone can relate to the medium since it is a toy that many children have at home. But my goal with this exhibition when it first debuted in 2007 was to elevate this simple plaything to a place it has never been before,” Sawaya explains on to theexhibition’s website.

The exhibition will be held at Heichal Toto, Holon and display several of Sawaya’s lego sculptures, as well as host activities for the whole family, such as building competitions, lego coloring pages, and Xbox games. The price of a ticket per person is 141 shekels per person, but there is also a family price for two adults and two kids for 301 shekels.
