Rock of the Westies er det tiande studioalbumet tilElton John. Albumet vart gjeve ut i 1975 og vart produsert av Gus Dudgeon. Det er det sjuande albumet på rad som kom på fyrsteplass på albumlistaBillboard 200 iUSA. Albumet var mindre populært i heimlandetStorbritannia der det nådde femteplassen.

Rock of the Westies inneheld singelen «Island Girl» som òg gjekk til topps i USA. Albumet var det første på lang tid der trommeslagarNigel Olsson og bassistDee Murray ikkje spelte med John, etter at dei fekk sparken over telefon av John sjølv. Dette gav musikken på albumet ein litt hardare stil, som skuffa mange tilhengjarar. Den neste singelen frå albumet, «Grow Some Funk of Your Own»/«I Feel Like a Bullet (In the Gun of Robert Ford)»), selde derfor noko dårlegare.

Songen «Hard Luck Story» hadde alt vorte spelt inn avKiki Dee og gjeven ut som singel eit år tidlegare. Denne og «Don't Go Breaking My Heart» er tilskriven Ann Orson/Carte Blanche (An horse and cart, Blanche), eit aukenamn Elton John nytta når han skreiv både musikk og tekst på eiga hand. Ann Orson vart òg nytt som namn på ein korvokalist som ein trur er Elton John sjølv.

Labelle syng korvokal på opningssongen «Medley (Yell Help/Wednesday Night/Ugly)».

Sjølv om musikken påRock of the Westies ikkje fekk så god kritikk då albumet kom ut, har det gjennom åra vorte sett i eit betre lys og vert i dag rekna som det siste «store» albumet frå denne tida av karrieren hans. I USA selde albumet til gullplate i 1975 og til platina i 1993.

Utanfor USA og Canada var dette det siste originale studioalbumet frå John påDJM Records, sidan han etter dette gav ut platene sine på sitt eigeRocket Records.

Songen «Street Kids» vart nytta i videospeletGrand Theft Auto IV frå 2008.
