Richard Jeffrey Charles Palmer-James (fødd 11. juni1947) skreiv tekstar forprogrockbandetKing Crimson tidleg i 1970-åra.[1]

Han spelte ikkje i sjølve bandet, men vart rekna som medlem. Palmer hadde då erstattaPeter Sinfield som òg skreiv tekstar for King Crimson.[1] Før King Crimson hadde han spelt i fleire band i Bournemouth: The Corvettes, The Palmer-James Group (i lag med Alec James), Tetrad og Ginger Man, alle medJohn Wetton på bass og vokal. Han var eit av medlemmane som startaSupertramp og han spelte gitar og skreiv tekstar fordebutalbumet deira[2] under namnetRichard Palmer.

Palmer skreiv tekstar for tre King Crimson-album,Larks' Tongues in Aspic,Starless and Bible Black ogRed. Han medverka ikkje meir med King Crimson etter atRobert Fripp la ned bandet ei stund i 1974, men arbeidde sidan medJohn Wetton ogDavid Cross frå bandet.
