With family roots in the newspaper industry and many years serving as chairman of Newspapers of New England, Holyoke native Donald R. Dwight, who died at the age of 94 on Sunday, May 4, is being recalled for a life lived by the same principles that guided his commitment to locally owned, independent journalism.
David Plazas joined the staff of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on May 5 as deputy managing editor overseeing opinion. He serves on the AJC editorial board and will work to develop the board’s editorial voice and connect with members of the community to advance the AJC’s journalism.
Gannett, Co. Inc., owner of the Des Moines Register, part of the USA TODAY Network, announced it has hired veteran journalist Rachel E. Stassen-Berger to serve as the Register’s new executive editor, effective June 2.
