State Advocacy Coalition
At the 2025 Mega-Conference, America’s Newspapers announced the formation of the State Advocacy Coalition (ANSAC) — a unified alliance of press associations and newspaper advocacy organizations coming together to protect and promote the role of local newspapers in their communities.
America’s Newspapers is now accepting applications for a new State Policy Director, a full-time leadership role that will help drive the organization’s legislative and advocacy priorities at both the state and national levels.

David Plazas joined the staff of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on May 5 as deputy managing editor overseeing opinion. He serves on the AJC editorial board and will work to develop the board’s editorial voice and connect with members of the community to advance the AJC’s journalism.
Gannett, Co. Inc., owner of the Des Moines Register, part of the USA TODAY Network, announced it has hired veteran journalist Rachel E. Stassen-Berger to serve as the Register’s new executive editor, effective June 2.
