HULL MUST HAVE LEAGUECAB A Clamps Down On Outlaw JuniorsDETROIT (CP)—Ottawa-Hull Junior Canadians, granted- a' bye into the Memorial Cup play-downs the past season must now belong to a recognized junior A hockey grouping to retain theirstatics in cup competition. ■ ‘ ■The new ruling on the Junior Canadiens* status came Wednesday at the closing sessions of the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association meeting here.A resolution passed by the convention calling lor the. change in status said it would be for the general betterment of junior hockey in Eastern Canada. The Ottawa-Hull team will be required to join a junior league in their own Quebec branch.The motion, proposed by Leo* ........—...................Atwell of the British Columbiabranch, was passed by an 8-1I vow.In .other action Wednesday the CAHA convention moved to strengthen the chances of the Thunder Bay and Alberta branches of reaching the Memorial Cup finals.The convention decided-to allow the two branches to select three players as they advance into the playdowns. However, at the same, time the meeting ruled against any similar allowance of pick-ups” for the Manitoba and Saskatchewan branches.A discussion in a pro-amateur meeting next month will probably shed more light on the situation regarding reinstatement of professionals. However, the convention Wednesday came out in favor of requiring the pros to wait a full year before regaining amateur status.Also Wednesday the Ontario Minor Hockey Association was given permission to include pee-wees in its ranks, but only with the approval .of each individual CAHA branch. ,TAYLOR OS COMMITTEEThe position of CAHA radio commissioner has been abolished and a new committee consisting of CAHA President Bob Lebei of Chambly Basin, Quo., Jack Roxburgh, Simcoe, Ont., and Dr. E. J. Taylor, Brandon. Man., will instead investigate all radio matters. ■ (The convention also decided Memorial Cup and Allan Cup final series will start no later than April-18 next year.• W. A. Hewitt, Toronto, took over honorary chairmanship of the CAHA rules committee, while the new rules committee members are Bob Lebel, Lorne Cook, Kingston. Ont., and Scotty Melville, Regina.At the election meeting Wednesday, Gordon Juckes of Melville, Sask., was elected president for the 1959 - 60 term, Roxburgh first vice-president and Art Potter of Edmonton second vice-president. .Hewitt remains • as registrar-treasurer, while George S.
