The release party for the "Kalevipoeg: the Estonian National Epic" published by the Literature Museum will take place on October 21 at the KUMU Art Museum of Estonia 

Written in traditional verse form, the work by Friedrich Reinhold Kreutzwald drew on folklore and the Finnish epic Kalevala, and helped catalyze the budding national renaissance in the late 19th century.

The translation by Triinu Kartus, an expat Estonian poet who resides in Tasmania, is the second English translation of the epic. It includes parallel Estonian text and over 80 illustrations by another Australian Estonian, Gunnar Neeme, which are of separate note.

It includes three afterwords written by President Toomas Hendrik Ilves, Tartu world literature professor Jüri Talvet and comparative folkloristics professor Ülo Valk.
