De Vita is Paolo Di Canio's third signing at Swindon Town

Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio has signed former Livingston striker Raffaele De Vita on a two-year deal.

The ex-Blackburn trainee, 23, left Scottish Division Two champions Livi this summer after three years.

"I've grown up in Scotland football-wise so my dream has always been to come back to England and play here," he told BBC Wiltshire.

"It's a big challenge for me. I just want to prove I'm a good addition to the squad."

The Italian has played for Livi in Divisions One, Two and Three and scored 22 goals in 67 league appearances, including 11 in 31 last term.

"It was very quick. I heard about it in the last couple of weeks, at that time I thought I was going back to Scotland," he said.

"When this came about I stopped thinking about Scotland."

De Vita has also been on the books of Blackburn Rovers but failed to break into the first-team at Ewood Park.

This will be his first taste of English football and he has been impressed by Swindon's new boss Di Canio.

"He's great, first impression was fantastic. He is so passionate about football and about what he wants to do with Swindon," he said.

"League Two will be a big step up for me."

He becomes Di Canio's third signing since taking over at the County Ground with deals already done with Joe Devera and Jonathan Smith.
