Liam Dickinson scored at Wembley in Stockport's play-off win |
Derby County have signed Stockport County striker Liam Dickinson for £750,000, reports BBC Radio Derby. The Hatters turned down an initial bid of £250,000 but the Rams upped their offer for the 22-year-old. Dickinson scored 21 goals last season and played a huge part in helping County win promotion from League Two. He told BBC Radio Derby: "Two-and-half years ago I was playing in non-league so to get to the Championship with a massive club like Derby is unreal." Dickinson becomes Derby's ninth signing of a hectic summer and he admits the jump from League Two to Championship football will not be easy. "I've just got to take it one step at a time and do my best," he said. "Stockport gave me a massive opportunity but it's all about belief and if you believe in yourself then you can do it."
