Okay, try to hear me out on this.

Nella and Garrett spend most of their time together, going on quests or not. They're both basically knights. Which would lead them to all the training they do together.

But, I feel like there's more than just friendship there. I mean, just look at how Nella smiles and laughs whenever Garrett does! Not to mention the fact that Garrett seems to worry about Nella at times.

If anyone could provide conformation on whether Nella and Garrett are together or not, please let me know. Thank you.

Theory:Horses are from MLP

This is my theory that all the horses that are present in the show might have been the My little pony franchise

This is a cheesy thing to point out but these horses can talk just like MLP. Though we never see pegasi (multiple pegasus) in the show we can see earth ponies and unicorns and the illuminati magic stuff that goes on this show even in the intro It's been SOOO long since I watched this show but I've never seen trinket use her horn before so,the magic from MLP might have transferred to NTPK and the horses here have no magic.

Keep in mind that this is a theory!

If Mermaid Melody had been the final episode and Nella was crowned the new Mermaid Princess for saving the mermaid kingdom then becomes a mermaid forever by sitting in a magic throne it would've been the perfect set up for a follow up series Nella the Mermaid Princess

Nella drops her sword in the magic lake, then dives in to get it transforming her into a mermaid with long flowing green hair with a shade similar to her hair tie, and a shiny silver tail with pink and purple fins, similar to her armor. once she reaches the bottom of the magic lake her sword is nowhere to be seen. then suddenly her skin turns silver and her hands become webbed and she grows additional fins. Once Nella realizes she's turning into a fish by being in the magic lake for too long, she goes on a quest to get the sword back. and back to the surface before she is completely transformed into a fish
